Eternal Strands Guide: Strategies to Defeat Ark of the Living Flame

Eternal Strands Guide: Strategies to Defeat Ark of the Living Flame

The third realm that players will venture into in Eternal Strands is Upper Dynevron, introducing formidable enemies that present a new level of challenge. This area is characterized by an increased presence of Ark units, which come in various melee and ranged combat types. Notably, these adversaries possess elemental abilities that inflict heat damage upon the character, Brynn.

As with prior realms, Upper Dynevron features a fresh Epic Encounter, pitting players against a revised Ark boss. In this installment, gamers face the Ark of the Living Flame, a heat-based entity that launches fiery projectiles. Defeating this boss not only requires skill but also offers players lucrative rewards, with high-value drops available even prior to its defeat.

Before embarking on this boss battle, it is essential to note that the Ark of the Living Flame primarily inflicts Heat damage. To bolster their defense, players should Reforge armor with Heat-resistant materials, maximizing resistance against this elemental damage type.

When it comes to offensive tactics, both melee and ranged weapons are effective. Given that the boss primarily deals Heat damage, utilizing the Flame Bow with fire arrows can substantially increase total damage output. Players should remain cautious of residual flames from the boss, which may result in minor damage. However, using basic arrows remains a viable strategy.

For melee combatants, the classic Sword & Shield or the Frost Sword & Shield (if the blueprint has been acquired) are suitable choices. The goal is to navigate atop the boss and inflict melee damage, making elemental frost damage less critical in this encounter.

Vulnerable Areas of the Ark of the Living Flame

Much like the Ark of the Stricken Earth, the Ark of the Living Flame possesses unique special spots throughout its body. Notably, these spots do not indicate vulnerable areas, as the susceptible regions are already visible to players. However, targeting these special areas can yield valuable loot, including Cinder-Infused Linen (5-star) and Refined Serenite (4-star).

In total, there are five designated spots on the Living Flame: two located on the tops of the wrists, two positioned behind the knees, and one situated on the chest. The chest spot can be targeted easily with a bow, while the other areas are more effectively destroyed using a sword. Once the shell is destroyed in these locations, a red muscle will emerge, which should also be eliminated to obtain the high-value materials.

After successfully collecting the drops, players can then redirect their focus towards the Living Flame’s vulnerable areas: the belly, arms, and lower legs. These regions will take longer to achieve immunity and players can significantly deplete the boss’s health by targeting the belly initially, potentially draining up to half of its HP before it becomes immune. Overall, the legs are also accessible for melee attacks.

Despite the opportunity for attack, players should remain vigilant; the Living Flame is aggressive and attempts to grab and toss players with its hands, more frequently than the Ark of the Stricken Earth. When you notice the boss’s hand reaching out, it’s advisable to drop down and evade.

Upon vanquishing the Ark of the Living Flame, players will receive the Ember’s Servant Strand. Delivering this item to Dahm in the camp grants Brynn a new Fire ability, enabling her to summon a companion.
