Essential Tips for Keeping Tieflings Alive in Baldur’s Gate 3: Achieving the Leave No One Behind Trophy

Achieving the “Leave No One Behind”milestone in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a daunting task that demands both strategy and commitment. This achievement centers on a group of tiefling refugees who your party encounters during Act One, attempting to escape the perils that plague their journey from Elturel to Baldur’s Gate. Much like your own quest, the tieflings face numerous threats along the way.

Your objective is to save as many tieflings as possible throughout the first two acts of the game, ensuring they can safely reach Baldur’s Gate. However, this task is far from straightforward: many choices you make can lead to dire consequences for these refugees. Successfully unlocking this achievement hinges on meticulous planning and steadfast resolve. Below are key steps to guide you.

Understanding the Achievement Parameters

While some tieflings in your care may be doomed from the start, successfully earning this achievement often involves saving specific characters, even those who might meet tragic ends later. The key is prolonging their survival for as long as possible.

Choosing the Dark Urge origin character can complicate this achievement, as it includes a scripted scenario where the protagonist kills Alfira, a tiefling bard who could otherwise survive Act One. To avoid her demise, players must incapacitate Alfira before each long rest following their encounter in Druid’s Grove. Otherwise, her death could jeopardize the achievement.

Ensuring the Tieflings’ Survival in Act One

Maintaining Peace in the Emerald Grove

To secure the safety of the tieflings, players must act quickly in Act One, specifically when a goblin horde attacks them in the Emerald Grove.Defeating the goblins before their leader, Zevlor, is killed is crucial. Once inside the Grove, interacting with pivotal characters becomes essential.

Avoid aggression or theft within the Emerald Grove, as such actions can increase tensions with the tieflings. The first character to assist, Nadira, is located near her telescope. Protect her from a bugbear assassin to ensure her survival. Following this, players must successfully convince Arka, another tiefling poised to kill a captive goblin, to refrain from her vengeful act to prevent her from leaving the Grove.

Three siblings—Rolan, Cal, and Lia—must also be persuaded to remain in the camp, as their presence is vital for the survival of the others. Furthermore, two children, Mirkon and Arabella, require assistance; Mirkon is lured by harpies and must be rescued, while Arabella is found in peril from Kagha’s snake, requiring negotiation for her release.

Should you play the Dark Urge origin, be wary of potential misdeeds such as attacking innocents like Pandirna. While aiding these characters is not imperative for the achievement, killing them will adversely affect your chances of success.

When dealing with the goblin camp, consider luring the adversaries back to the Grove for a strategic advantage, but know this may endanger some tieflings. The optimal strategy is to confront the goblins directly at their camp to safeguard the Grove.

Rescuing the Tiefling Refugees in Act Two

Even following these precautions, expect the loss of several tieflings in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, including Arka and Nadira. The specifics of their fate remain uncertain; nonetheless, their outcomes do not impact the achievement at this juncture. Focus on rescuing any remaining tieflings located at Last Light Inn or imprisoned at Moonrise Towers.

It is imperative to protect the Last Light Inn from falling into darkness, as this would result in the loss of a significant number of tieflings. When Absolute forces assault the Inn, be vigilant against the Winged Horrors, whose attacks can decimate the refugees if you’re inattentive. After repelling the attack, assist Wulbren Bongle in orchestrating a prison break to liberate Cal, Lia, Lakrissa, and Danis, returning them safely to Last Light.

Moreover, more tieflings await rescue across the map. Rolan, having ventured away from Last Light to search for his siblings, is in danger from Shadows at the southern map boundary. Additionally, Arabella is at the House of Healing, seeking her parents, who unfortunately die irrespective of player actions. She must be safely brought back to your camp. Finally, Zevlor needs to be rescued from the Illithid Oubliette during the climactic moments of Act Two.

During combat, make use of protective spells such as Sanctuary or Shield of Faith to shield the tieflings from danger.

By following these guidelines, you can maximize the number of tiefling refugees who successfully make it to Baldur’s Gate. However, achieving the “Leave No One Behind”accomplishment requires additional vigilance. Survivors remain at risk of dying during events in Act Three. Ensure to speak with Mol in the Guildhall to solidify their safety. If all conditions are met and none perish, you’ll unlock the “Leave No One Behind”achievement at the conclusion of your journey.
