Today, Epic Games unveiled its annual review of the Epic Games Store, providing insights into the platform’s performance throughout 2024. This comprehensive Year in Review report reveals a mix of achievements and challenges for the gaming platform.
User Growth and Engagement Metrics
The Epic Games Store has achieved remarkable milestones, surpassing 295 million users and welcoming an additional 25 million gamers since 2023. Additionally, the Epic cross-platform account total has reached an impressive 898 million, with a growth of 94 million accounts this year. Daily and monthly engagement also showed significant numbers, peaking at 37.2 million and 74 million active users, respectively. Remarkably, the average daily active user count rose to 31.5 million, indicating a year-over-year increase of 6%.Monthly active users also saw growth, reaching 67.2 million in 2024.
Revenue Trends and Third-Party Game Earnings
Despite the impressive user growth, Epic Games reported an 18% decline in earnings from third-party games in 2024. Among the 4, 000+ titles available on the store, the revenue from Epic Payments accounted for $255 million. It is important to note that this figure excludes earnings from publishers utilizing alternative payment methods for in-game purchases.
Overall Spending and Popularity of First-Party Titles
In a silver lining, users collectively spent $1.09 billion on the Epic Games Store in 2024, marking a noteworthy 15% increase from the previous year. This surge in spending highlights the continued appeal of Epic Games’ flagship titles, particularly the ever-popular Fortnite.

Developer Success and Engagement Insights
“We’ve stated that when you succeed we succeed, and the ways developers are succeeding on the Store continues to evolve beyond our traditional measure of third-party revenue we see from our native payment solution, ”stated the company.“It’s not only growth in DAU and MAU that highlight how big the market opportunity is on the Epic Game Store, but third-party gametime as well, which grew from 2.41 Billion hours in 2023, to 2.68 Billion in 2024; a 11% increase year over year.”
Free Games and Future Plans
In 2024, Epic Games continued its successful free PC games initiative, offering 89 titles valued at over $2000. Looking ahead to 2025, the company is set to expand this program further, now including mobile gamers as part of the promotion.
Improvements and New Features Coming to the Epic Games Store
Epic Games is also focused on enhancing the user experience with several updates. Plans for 2025 include improvements to the Epic Games mobile app for both Android and iOS, introducing self-publishing tools for mobile content, and enabling non-gaming applications on the platform. A prominent new feature, gifting, is also on the horizon.
