The Epic Games Store is broadening its mobile reach, introducing a variety of new third-party games while also providing complimentary titles for both Android and iOS users. In a move designed to bolster the developer community, the latest announcements reveal advantages that may significantly appeal to game creators.

Initially launched in mid-2024, the mobile Epic Games Store first made waves by bringing “Fall Guys” to handheld devices. This advancement is part of Epic’s disruptive approach to the mobile app marketplace, which has often faced criticism for the restrictive nature of the built-in app store ecosystems of Android and iOS.

New Games and Features to Enhance User Experience

Epic Games has unveiled an exciting slate of additions aimed at enriching the user experience and enticing developers. The service has introduced 20 new titles for players, including popular games such as Blade of God X: Orisols, Evoland 2, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life, which are now available for download. Upcoming titles include Solo Leveling: Arise, Eastern Exorcist, Trailer Park Boys: Greasy Money, MR Racer, and the Double Dragon Trilogy.

Arguably the most enticing aspect for players is the introduction of free games. Starting with Dungeon of the Endless: Apogee and Bloons TD 6, users can claim these titles through February 20. The plan is to eventually offer free games on a weekly basis later this year, enhancing the value of the Epic Games Store mobile experience.

To further improve accessibility, the platform has rolled out new features including an Epic login that maintains player status across devices. Additionally, an auto-update feature will minimize downtime, allowing users to dive straight into their games without delays. However, it’s worth noting that while the mobile store is accessible on Android worldwide, iOS users in regions outside the European Union cannot yet access it due to restrictions imposed by Apple in the United States.

Epic’s Commitment to Developers

In tandem with enhancing the gaming experience, Epic is dedicated to attracting developers to the platform. The company is implementing a favorable revenue-sharing model, offering an 88/12 split on processed payments. Moreover, developers will see 0% fees on third-party payments and a reduction in royalties from 5% to 3.5% for Unreal Engine games that launch on Epic Games simultaneously or earlier than on competing platforms.

Additionally, Epic plans to alleviate costs by absorbing Apple’s Core Technology Fee, which imposes a €0.50 charge per download once apps surpass one million downloads. Epic argues that such fees, particularly combined with Apple’s and Google’s existing restrictions, discourage many developers from utilizing their services. These measures aim to create a more inviting environment that fosters innovation and game launches on their platform.
