Microsoft has rolled out a fresh monthly update detailing the latest enhancements and features introduced for its Education clients. The highlight is the global launch of a new Classwork feature within Teams for Education that leverages AI technology.
The Classwork application, which was previously made available in Teams for Education, enables educators to create assignments, share files, and provide links among other functionalities. In the latest monthly blog post from Microsoft Education, the company has detailed the integration of the new AI capabilities into Classwork. According to the announcement:
With the AI-driven Classwork module generation, educators receive support in formulating course outlines and crafting module descriptions aligned with the subject matter, student grade levels, and intended learning outcomes. The educator retains full control, with options to modify, remove, or regenerate modules before adding them to Classwork.
Alongside the AI enhancements in the Classwork app, Microsoft has also introduced an integration for Teams Assignments with Learning Management Systems (LMS). This feature aims to streamline certain tasks for educators. Notably, the Teams Assignments for LMS can automatically grade quizzes created through Microsoft Forms. Additionally, teachers can now incorporate Microsoft Whiteboard, MakeCode, and Flip videos into their assignments.
Another significant enhancement slated for rollout later this month is the Speaker Progress feature designed to assist students in honing their public speaking abilities. Microsoft indicates that this update will include support for using Screen Recording and PowerPoint within Speaker Progress, enabling students to record their presentations for later review by instructors.
The integration with PowerPoint will allow students to utilize the popular software during their speaking engagements while concurrently receiving feedback from Speaker Coach. Furthermore, Microsoft announced that Speaker Coach, currently available only in English, will expand its language support in 2024 to include Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil), German, Polish, Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, and Finnish.
