The concept of design ideas isn’t brand new to PowerPoint; it leverages the functionality provided by Microsoft Designer, which offers design recommendations to all Microsoft 365 subscribers, including those on lower-tier plans. However, users on higher-tier plans or those equipped with a Copilot Pro license can enjoy a more interactive experience. This means you can tap into Copilot’s assistance to overcome creative challenges while preparing your presentations. Be aware that to access this feature, both a Copilot license and a reliable internet connection are prerequisites.

Accessing Copilot Features

To utilize Copilot design ideas in PowerPoint, simply navigate to the Home tab on both Windows and Mac versions of PowerPoint and click on “Design Suggestions.”This action will launch a sidebar displaying various design options curated by Copilot, alongside selections from Microsoft Designer.

Availability and Compatibility

The rollout of the Design Suggestions feature is currently in progress for Microsoft 365 Insiders who have Copilot licenses. To take advantage of this functionality, users should ensure they are running version 2505 (build 1882.20006 for Windows) or 16.97 (build 25040216 for macOS).As of today, this feature is exclusive to the desktop version of PowerPoint, but Microsoft has indicated plans for a web version in the future.
