Google Enhances Calendar with Gemini’s “Take Notes for Me”Feature
Google has announced the broadened capabilities of its Gemini-powered “Take notes for me”function, now integrated into Google Calendar. This update allows event organizers to activate this feature while scheduling meetings, making it a valuable tool for Workspace customers on various plans, including Business Standard/Plus, Enterprise Standard/Plus, Google AI Pro for Education, and Frontline Plus.
What is “Take Notes for Me”?
The “Take notes for me”functionality leverages artificial intelligence to automatically document conversations held during meetings. It compiles these discussions into a neatly organized Google Doc. For added convenience, if the meeting includes transcription, the notes can include citations linking back to specific segments of the meeting transcript. Notably, attendees who join a meeting late can receive real-time summaries to help them catch up quickly.
New Enhancements for Greater Control
In its latest update, Google has enhanced this feature, giving meeting organizers the ability to customize the distribution of meeting notes. They can choose to share the notes exclusively with internal participants or limit access to hosts only. Additionally, recap emails have been revamped to include a summary and actionable next steps directly in the email, rather than just linking to a Google Doc.
How to Activate “Take Notes for Me”in Calendar
To enable the “Take notes for me”feature when creating an event in Google Calendar, follow these simple steps:
- Enter the name of your event.
- Add your guests to the event.
- Locate the new toggle labeled “Use Gemini meeting notes, ”which appears below the guest list.
- Click on the toggle to activate it for your meeting.
Keep in mind that this option is disabled by default for newly created events.

Disabling “Take Notes for Me”at the Organizational Level
For administrators who wish to turn off the “Take notes for me”feature for their entire organization, the following steps should be taken:
- Log in to the Google Admin console.
- Navigate to Menu, then Apps, followed by Google Workspace, and finally Google Meet.
- Access Gemini settings and uncheck the option labeled “Let people use Google AI note-taking in meetings.”
It is important to note that changes may take up to 24 hours to propagate throughout your organization.
Availability of the Feature
The rollout of the “Take notes for me”option in Calendar began recently for users in Rapid Release domains, while those in Scheduled Release domains will need to wait until October 13 for the phased implementation to commence.
