Eli Manning Jokes About ‘Chad Powers’ and Glen Powell: ‘I Think I Look Better’

Excitement Builds for the Upcoming Hulu Series “Chad Powers”

Fans of the renowned Eli Manning sketch are eagerly anticipating the release of “Chad Powers”on Hulu later this year. I recently had the opportunity to discuss the show with Manning during an event celebrating Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Birthday Celebration for Ten

The event was particularly special as we gathered to honor Ten, the beloved seeing-eye dog of Thomas Panek, CEO of the organization. Named in tribute to Manning’s jersey number with the New York Giants, Ten is a remarkable companion who assists Panek during his marathons. The celebration was a heartwarming tribute to this incredible dog and the essential work of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, which trains and provides seeing-eye dogs to those experiencing vision loss.

A Glimpse into “Chad Powers”

As our conversation progressed, I couldn’t resist asking Manning about his upcoming series, “Chad Powers.”This Hulu show, conceptualized by Glen Powell and Michael Waldron, draws inspiration from a hilarious sketch that Manning performed while he was already established in the NFL. In the original sketch, Manning portrays a walk-on player trying out for the Penn State football team, a comedic scenario that gained immense popularity and quickly went viral beyond just sports fans.

Connecting with Ten’s Journey

My excitement for the series resonated with Manning, who expressed his enthusiasm for bringing “Chad Powers”to life. He remarked on the parallels between the show’s evolution and Ten’s impactful journey alongside Panek.

“I’m very excited. And just kind of like the story of Ten and watching that progression, very similar to Chad Powers, which started off as a funny idea walking on at Penn State and doing a funny skit then going viral to people calling about turning into a TV show to Hulu, buying it to Glen Powell becoming Chad Powers. I think I’m a little better looking than Glen, but whatever, ” said Manning.“It’s been unbelievable, the progression and I’ve seen some of the rough cuts of the first few episodes. So excited for that to come out later this summer. It’s gonna be a lot fun.”
