Dr. Doot’s Unique Elden Ring Challenge at AGDQ 2025
During the Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 charity event, streamer and challenge runner Dr. Doot showcased an extraordinary performance, defeating key bosses in Elden Ring using a novel controller: an electronic Aerophone AE-10 saxophone. In a rapid sub-30-minute run, he took on iconic adversaries such as Radahn, Hoarah Loux, and Malenia, demonstrating a remarkable blend of skill and creativity.
A Week-Long Celebration of Gaming for Charity
AGDQ 2025 is a major fundraising speedrunning event designed to support various charitable initiatives. This year’s marathon featured a diverse selection of games, including popular titles like Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Deus Ex, and Metal Gear Solid. Dr. Doot’s saxophone-driven run stood out as a special attraction, helping to raise an impressive $1,500,000 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
The Mechanics Behind the Music
In his Elden Ring performance, Dr. Doot used the Aerophone saxophone to produce different MIDI sounds, allowing him to execute various in-game actions. This innovative control method restricted him to executing one action at a time, effectively translating musical notes into gameplay. His experience with this alternative interface has extended to other popular FromSoftware titles, including Dark Souls III and Sekiro, where he has completed hitless runs against formidable bosses.
A Flawless Victory Against Tough Opponents
Dr. Doot’s AGDQ run spanned a brisk 29 minutes and 22 seconds, during which he faced formidable foes such as Rykard, Radahn, The Fire Giant, Gideon Ofnir, Radagon, and the Elden Beast—without sustaining any damage. His weapon of choice was the Star Fist, renowned for its significant posture damage and bleed effects. Notably, the only two instances where he took damage came from encounters with Godfrey, the First Elden Lord, and Malenia, Blade of Miquella, the latter being hailed as one of the toughest bosses in the history of FromSoftware games.
Looking Ahead: New Adventures in the Elden Ring Universe
Exciting developments await fans of the series as FromSoftware prepares for the release of a new spinoff, Elden Ring: Nightreign. Set to launch in 2025, this multiplayer-focused standalone experience will offer fresh challenges. Additionally, a Network Test is scheduled for February, providing eager players with a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Elden Ring is currently available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X. Its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, is also accessible across all systems. Keep an eye out for Elden Ring: Nightreign, slated for release later in 2025.
