Elden Ring Respec Guide: Reset Stats and Find Larval Tears

Elden Ring Respec Guide: Reset Stats and Find Larval Tears

Update: We’ve incorporated an interactive map detailing the locations of every Larval Tear in Elden Ring into the locations section of this page.

In Elden Ring, Larval Tears serve as your sole means for respecing your character and resetting your stats, barring a complete game restart.

Whether you’ve made some choices you’re regretting or are eager to try out optimal builds, understanding how to respec your character in Elden Ring is essential. Here’s what you need to know for a swift reset.

To revert your stats to their original state, you will require Larval Tears, which are rare consumables primarily located in challenging locations, treacherous regions, and dropped by elusive enemies.

While there are over ten places to find Larval Tears scattered across The Lands Between, obtaining them is rarely straightforward.

Steps to Respec in Elden Ring

Before you can initiate a respec, you must first defeat the shard-bearing boss, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, located at Raya Lucaria.

Upon defeating her and claiming her Rune of the Unborn, you’ll have the ability to visit her at the Grand Library anytime to reset your stats, provided you possess a Larval Tear for each respec.

Locating Larval Tears in Elden Ring

We’ve embedded an interactive map below to assist you in finding every Larval Tear hidden throughout The Lands Between:

The most accessible Larval Tear can be found at the Village of the Albinaurics in the southwestern part of the Liurnia of the Lakes region, just north of Stormveil Castle.

Larval Tear Location

Many players likely visit this area while hunting for the Royal Remains set, an excellent early-game armor.

As you enter the village, you’ll notice a spectral figure near a well. Before approaching, head right to find a small graveyard filled with the bodies of Albinaurics. The Larval Tear is the glowing item amidst the scene.

Larval Tear in Graveyard

Later in the game, you’ll discover an abundance of Larval Tears in the area known as Nokron, the Eternal City. As part of Ranni’s questline, exploring and defeating bosses here can yield up to six additional Larval Tears.

An additional challenge awaits just outside this area, offering a second Larval Tear within reach of your starting location, albeit with increased difficulty.

Zombie Enemy Location

Located near the Agheel Lake South Site of Grace, southeast of The First Step, there’s an unsuspecting enemy resembling a zombie positioned atop a cliff. He is situated to the east of this Site of Grace.

Transforming Enemy

Upon attacking this foe, you’ll face a formidable Rune Bear that can inflict significant damage swiftly. Whether you’re a seasoned player who has already defeated Rennala or a newcomer, prepare yourself for a challenging battle by employing quick, hit-and-run tactics.

Though I hesitated to spoil the surprise of the zombie’s transformation into a giant bear, it’s crucial to be prepared for this unexpected encounter.
