Among the diverse characters featured in Elden Ring Nightreign, The Revenant stands out as the most peculiar. This eerie, reanimated doll engages foes with ghostly claws while summoning spirits, all while fixing an unsettling gaze with her cold blue eyes.
But there’s a deeper, haunting narrative intertwined with her existence—one that traces back to a stormy night marked by horrific events. Prepare yourself, for once you delve into The Revenant’s backstory, there’s no turning back. And yes, there are valuable relics to collect along the way! So gather those memory fragments, and let’s embark on the Remembrance Quest of The Revenant.
Unlocking The Revenant

Before stepping into the ethereal world as The Revenant, a few preliminary tasks await completion. Don’t worry; I’ll summarize this for you.
- Defeat your first Nightlord and return to awaken the Duchess.
- Visit the Jar Merchant, scroll down, and purchase the Besmirched Frame for 1, 500 Murk.
- Locate a spirit gazing at a painting in the northeast corner of the Expedition room and interact with her to access the tutorial boss arena.
- Confront The Night Idol and her trio of spiritual companions to fully unlock The Revenant.
- Consider utilizing a ranged class like the Ironeye. Dispatch the summoned spirits first to minimize distractions, then focus your knife dash for main damage. Her evasiveness makes strategic use of your ult crucial for a decisive finish.
With these steps completed, you can now choose The Revenant from the character selection in the expedition room—let the adventures begin!
Collecting Memory Fragments

Memory fragments function uniquely for each character, and you’ll need to gather them to advance The Revenant’s questline. Start by familiarizing yourself with her mechanics.
The initial mission becomes available at chapter one, requiring the defeat of Gladius or the Darkdrift Knight.
Once you complete this mission, your progress should unlock chapters 2 through 5.If you don’t see this progression, continue to defeat more unique Nightlords until her story unfolds.
Post chapter 5, you must take down another Nightlord with The Revenant to acquire the final Memory Fragment necessary for the concluding quest. This can be a previously defeated boss, like Gladius.
In summary, The Revenant’s entire questline mandates vanquishing two expedition bosses, along with those from her memories. Now, let’s dive into the first chapter!
Chapter 1 – To Regain One’s Trust

To initiate the quest, select The Revenant and go to the journal room to access chapter one. Should you encounter difficulties navigating the quest, consult your map for an exclamation mark.
- Begin by addressing the Duchess in the expedition room, exhaust her dialogue until the prompt “Why did you bring me here?” appears.
- Next, converse with the Guardian in the west room, who will set the task of defeating Gladius or the Darkdrift Knight. Opt for Gladius for an easier victory, but prepare with holy weapons or incantations for an effortless battle.
- Upon victory, you’ll receive either the Blade or Night reward.
- Return to the Guardian to conclude this remembrance.
- Proceed through the blue spiral gateway back to the journal room.
Your reward includes the Small Makeup Brush, an equipable relic that offers:
- Increased power when fighting alongside family.
- Enhanced rune acquisition for both yourself and allies.
This power varies depending on the summon you have in battle, so experiment with it.Don’t forget to equip the relic at the altar!
This expedition serves as the sole requirement for the official quest, although more boss encounters will occur later to gather the last memory fragment after the next chapter.
Ensure all prior remembrance quests are completed before unlocking new fragments!
Chapter 5 – The Darkness Within

Once equipped with all necessary fragments, return to the journal to commence her next remembrance quest.
- Chat once more with the Duchess, who notes that your condition is deteriorating due to contamination by night, necessitating a cleansing.
- Interact with the Recluse found in the west garden by a bench, who will guide you to confront the evil residing in your memory.
- Sit on the bench to enter a slumber.
- You’ll awaken in an old manor—your former home. Navigate the corridor leading to a large room where battle awaits.
- The Corrosion enemies will swarm you, similar to those encountered in fire camps during expeditions. I suggest summoning Frederick, whose mobility and wide AoE attacks will help manage the chaos. Keep dodging and attacking until they’re defeated.
- After an easier-than-expected battle, inspect the doll to be transported back to the forest. Talk to The Recluse or head to the spiral gateway to complete Chapter 5.
You’ll receive the Revenant Chalice as a reward, enhancing customization at the Relic altar.
One of the best items for The Revenant is the Wraith Calling Bell located near larger gravestones throughout Limveld. Occasionally, you may find this item as a relic reward—if so, equip it immediately!
At this juncture, you may access chapter 6, but chapter 7 remains locked.Complete another expedition with The Revenant to unlock the final quest. I personally defeated Gladius again for ease!
Chapter 7 – My Darling Little Daphne

Return to the Journal after acquiring the final memory fragment.Equipping improved relics is advisable, as the upcoming battle is noticeably more challenging—though still manageable compared to facing the Nightlords.
- Once more back to The Recluse in the garden, who will instruct you to confront the events of that fateful stormy night.
- Sitting down, you’ll find yourself in the manor again, this time with a storm raging outside and clear signs of chaos—shattered glass and blood paint a grim picture.
- A contaminant will emerge, resembling the Royal Revenant mini-boss from the expeditions but with significantly less health. Summon Frederick or Sebastian to absorb damage while you attack from behind. Remember to wield your claws with both hands and dodge to avoid targeted attacks.
- After defeating this foe, you’ll experience one of the most haunting cutscenes in the game. I highly recommend watching it in-game for its gruesome yet exquisite rendering. By witnessing what Daphne endured, you’ll come to understand her quest for vengeance.
- Upon exiting the memory, select “Bury The Nightlord” when speaking with The Recluse. This action concludes the final chapter of The Revenant’s remembrance journey, allowing you to once again enter the spiral gateway.

Completion grants you Daphne’s remembrance costume, shedding her bandages to reveal the doll joints below. This seemingly small transformation holds significant meaning, particularly after witnessing the final cutscene.
Additionally, you’ll obtain the Old Portrait relic with the following capabilities:
- Activates a ghostflame explosion during Ultimate Art usage.
- Uses your HP to fully heal nearby allies when activating Art.
- Defeating enemies contributes to Art gauge replenishment.
This is another auto-equip relic, so don’t miss out—its support potential for future encounters is invaluable.
With that, you’ve completed everything related to The Revenant. Personally, I believe this questline may stand out as the most engaging among the Nightfarer tales, and she has certainly become my favorite character.
