Elden Ring Nightreign: Noklateo, The Shrouded City and Shifting Earth Guide

Elden Ring Nightreign: Noklateo, The Shrouded City and Shifting Earth Guide

After triumphing over the Magma Wyrm deep within the Crater and liberating yourself from the curse of the Rotted Woods, the next challenge awaits you: conquering Noklateo, the final Shifting Earth event in Elden Ring: Nightreign.

Noklateo, known as The Shrouded City, bears a striking resemblance to the Leyndell Royal Capital from the base game, but it boasts a multitude of layers and intricacies that set it apart as the most detailed Shifting Earth event to date.

If you’re eager to swiftly navigate this area and prepare for your inevitable showdown against the Nightlord, my comprehensive guide to Noklateo, The Shrouded City, will outline what you need to know for an optimized experience.

Unlocking Shifting Earth: Noklateo, The Shrouded City

The city of Nokalteo on the map

Similar to previous Shifting Earth events, the Noklateo event becomes accessible once you have defeated seven Nightlords in Elden Ring: Nightreign. Once it’s unlocked, this event will be available in your matchmaking pool until you choose to rest at the Roundtable Hold.

It’s important to note that the sequence in which you defeat the Nightlords doesn’t matter; you simply need to claim victory against seven of them. You will receive a notification in the Roundtable Hold when the event is active, and although you may be eager to dive right in, this particular event has some unique characteristics that differentiate it from others.

Noklateo is the largest Shifting Earth Event in the game, occupying the entire bottom-left section of the map and effectively replacing the central castle. With the right strategy and effective time management, players can achieve maximum levels here while uncovering a fantastic secret at the end.

Now, let’s explore the most efficient way to navigate this event.

Completing Noklateo, The Shrouded City

The true secret of Noklateo lies within its deepest reaches. To uncover it, you must reach the chapel at the far end of the city, where you’ll face the Naturalborn of the Void boss—a recognizable foe from the original Elden Ring.

Before detailing the route, remember the following: I will outline my team’s standard path for defeating the field bosses, as shown in the reference image, while keeping the focus on reaching the Chapel area effectively.

You can approach the Chapel from either side of the city since they are mostly identical. For our guide, we will start from the left side of the entry point.

It is highly recommended that you be at least level 10+ and head there as soon as the second day begins to ensure ample time for the final encounter. This will also help you and your teammates successfully manage the boss fights ahead without unnecessary urgency.

Finding the Black Knife Assassin & Headless Troll

To reiterate, follow my designated route closely for maximum efficiency, as we will bypass less significant enemies to confront two primary field bosses: the Black Knife Assassin and the Headless Troll.

Upon entering the city via the main gate, drop down into the canal, disregard the enemies, and find an opening on the left side. Climb over and ignore any Basilisks emerging from the murky water to reach a dilapidated zone.

A stationary version of the Naturalborn of the Void can be found here launching projectiles—there’s no need to engage it.Instead, locate an opening nearby that leads down into the sewers.

Watch out for Basilisks and their deadly spew.Continue through the underground sewers as indicated in the images, and you’ll eventually reach a Spiritstream, bringing you back up to ground level near a Site of Grace.

In this next area, you can challenge the Headless Troll in the canal while the Black Knife Assassin awaits up the path by the bridge. I recommend defeating the Troll first, but do whatever suits your strategy and take out both foes swiftly.

From the bridge, ascend the stairs leading to the inner Chapel area. Before entering, ensure you spend your remaining runes to level up and engage the two roaming ghost knights in this space, as one drops a valuable boon.

Naturalborn of the Void Boss Encounter

Fighting Naturalborn of the Void in Nightreign

Enter the Chapel to initiate the battle against the Naturalborn of the Void.Notably, this fight becomes significantly easier with more ranged characters on your team.

It’s crucial to focus on defeating this boss before the area circle begins to converge. The time it takes to win can vary based on your party setup and levels.

The Naturalborn of the Void delivers devastating AOE attacks and can strike nearby foes with gravity-burst projectiles from its claws. Teaming up with an Ironeye to apply weakening marks and a Raider to facilitate staggering can be advantageous.

Take your time during this encounter due to its potentially overwhelming attacks. The reason for recommending a prompt arrival here is to ensure you have enough time to defeat the boss without feeling rushed.

Fortunately, the hitbox on this creature is quite large, allowing you to target its back or limbs with relative ease. Staying close to the front can be risky due to potential lunges or the AOE gravity pulse attack.

Upon defeating this boss, proceed to the far side of the entrance to claim your secret, the Favor of Noklateo. This boon grants you an auto-revive upon defeat and bestows temporary power, akin to the Wending Grace item.

Fighting the Dragonkin Soldier

If time allows as you make your way back to the entrance, consider battling the Dragonkin Soldier found in the central canal to earn additional rewards and runes for optimizing your levels.

Fighting Loretta

To maximize your remaining time, my team often confronts Loretta just outside the city as the second night circle approaches. With the levels and gear obtained from Noklateo, she becomes a manageable final boss to take down.
