Elden Ring Nightreign: Mountaintop Guide for Shifting Earth Exploration

In the world of Elden Ring Nightreign, one of the standout features is the Shifting Earth events, which transform significant areas of the map, offering players fresh challenges and landscapes to explore. Among these, the Mountaintop event stands out as one of the earliest and most accessible for players.

Unlocking the Mountaintop Shifting Earth Event

To access the Mountaintop event, players must first defeat three Nightlords. Upon accomplishing this feat, look for a notification indicating that the Mountaintop Shifting Earth event has been unlocked. From this point on, it will be included in the random selection of events available during your expeditions.

After unlocking the Mountaintop, players will also have the chance to encounter the Crater event during future play sessions. Furthermore, once players defeat any additional Nightlords and unlock events like the Scarlet Woods and Citadel, these will also enter the event pool.

If at any time you prefer not to engage with a Shifting Earth event, you can rest at the bed in the Roundtable Hold to remove the unwanted event from your options.

Completing the Mountaintop Event

The objective for completing the Mountaintop involves reaching its summit and uncovering a hidden secret, a task considerably less perilous than descending into the Crater, as falling to your demise is not a concern here.

Your journey to the peak is fairly straightforward, highlighted by a red waypoint on your map, which marks the spot at the top of the mountain. However, the path is not entirely linear.

Players need to seek out a large chain that extends across the mountain. This giant chain connects both the left and right sides, with the key to accessing the secret found on the left side.

To reach the peak, traverse the chain as indicated by the red arrow in the accompanying visual, then continue northward toward another chain that leads directly to the Mountaintop’s secret.

These chains are easy to spot due to their immense size. If you’re having trouble finding them, utilize Spirit Springs and climbable stone walls to gain altitude. Remember, the chains will guide you high up the mountain.

Upon reaching the top, you’ll find a distinctive rock formation surrounded by blue crystals. Underneath this luminous centerpiece lies a smaller golden crystal; interact with this crystal to acquire a new Power and complete the Mountaintop event.

Rewards for Conquering the Mountaintop

Upon successfully finishing the Mountaintop event, players will unlock the Favor of the Mountaintop Power, which significantly mitigates frostbite damage and buildup. Additionally, this Power enhances attack power for nearby frostbite effects. Completing this challenge also rewards players with the coveted Mountaintop trophy.

The Favor of the Mountaintop Power is exceptionally beneficial when facing Mountaintop bosses, many of whom deal with frostbite, making it wise to obtain this Power as early as possible during day two of your gameplay to maximize farming capabilities.

This Power also proves invaluable during confrontations with formidable enemies such as Caligo, Miasma of Night, enhancing your damage output and survivability, leading to a more manageable battle experience.
