The world of Elden Ring has just gotten a dose of chaos with the introduction of an upgraded Nightlord boss fight in the latest expansion, Nightreign. This time, players will face off against Libra, the infamous satanic goat, in the Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast expedition, which promises to challenge even seasoned players.
What stands out in this Everdark iteration is its unprecedented level of chaos in mechanics, making it one of the most anticipated battles among fans. The waiting period has certainly paid off with a boss fight that lives up to all the excitement!
Optimal Team Composition

Assembling the right team is crucial: One of the defining features of Everdark Libra is his ability to summon ‘Condemned’ variants of your characters during battle, each equipped with unique and unconventional builds. Additionally, there is a slim chance that he may call upon unique Nightfarers who are not in your party.
This team composition advice is tailored for a trio setup, but I will highlight options that can work for duos or solo play as well. To assist your decisions, I’ll detail the potential contributions of each of your summoned Nightfarers.
- Guardian: Mains of Birdman are invaluable here, as the chaotic battle nature will likely result in multiple downed teammates. Guardian’s Wings of Salvation Ultimate Art proves essential for reviving allies. Despite having a more challenging condemned version, the capacity to save teammates outweighs the disadvantages he’s faced.
- Revenant: A teammate with a strong Wylder presence transitioned to the Revenant during our sixth attempt, drawn by her agility. Revenant shines with her versatility, particularly her capacity to hurl faith incantations from a safe distance. However, her lower health pool may be a concern for some players.
- Raider: The best choice for solos or duos, the Raider excels even in trios. With the appropriate relic setup, this character can absorb Libra’s most punishing assaults and simultaneously enhance the team’s capabilities. His unique strength-based weapon techniques can effectively stagger bosses.
- Ironeye: While utilizing Ironeye might initially seem unwise due to low health and damage, the Weakening Mark and the invincibility frames from his Ultimate Art can prove invaluable. I personally employed him as a barrier against aggressive Condemned Raiders threatening my group.
Understanding Key Differences with Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast

Describing the mechanics of this fight is no small feat. The primary element to note is that Everdark Sovereign Libra will periodically summon Condemned Nightfarers.
These manifestations are corrupted replicas of your characters, with the number of Condemned summoned correlating with how many players are in the expedition. This unique characteristic contributes significantly to the chaotically thrilling experience of battling in trios.
Everdark Libra also wields various debilitating spells throughout the encounter, some dependent on the deals he offers. Here’s a summary of the notable debuffs along with their callout messages:
- A Demon Summons the Condemned: This summons hostile Nightfarers possessing unique builds, which can include a Wylder launching deadly greatbow shots or an Ironeye utilizing a Jar Cannon from a distance.
- A Demon Offers a Challenge: This inflicts a debuff that halves all players’ health for 30 seconds, notably occurring when Libra is below 50% HP.
- A Demon Shrouds All Allies: This makes you and your teammates invisible to one another for 30 seconds, which may also affect the Condemned Nightfarers on rare occasions.
- A Demon Offers a False Blessing: This grants unlimited Crimson Tear Flask charges for 30 seconds, but each use comes at the cost of your character losing a level.
- A Demon Incites a Riot: This summons an additional set of Condemned Nightfarers who will battle each other, potentially attacking Libra.
- A Demon Reveals an Inescapable Eye: Similar to the “Power of a Demon”deal, but without the benefits, lasting for 30 seconds.
- A Demon Preaches Madness: Applies the Madness effect to all players’ weapons and the Condemned NPCs, which can strategically escalate Libra’s aggression.
As you prepare for the fight, remember that the Riot and Madness Preach debuffs will be pivotal in shaping your battle strategy, albeit dependent on RNG.
Preparation Strategies for Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast

In contrast to the Everdark Caligo preparation guide that emphasized acquiring Mountaintop Favor and frost resistances, you’ll find more flexibility in gearing up for Everdark Libra.
First and foremost, equipping Madness-themed armaments is crucial. Vyke’s Spear and the Flame of Frenzy Incantation from the Frenzied Flame Seal are highly recommended if you can acquire them.
If you come across any Madness boluses, consume them! They provide effects that last throughout the expedition and can even stack based on consumption.
Additionally, while you can explore Shifting Earth Events, my team found that selecting Noklateo’s favor was invaluable. It not only provides auto-revives but also grants temporary boosts to HP and Stamina.
Moveset of Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast

Most notably, Everdark Libra’s moveset largely remains unchanged, with a few updates to its magical attacks. Below are key points regarding the alterations you can expect compared to the base encounter.
Like previous enhanced Nightlords, I won’t delve into the base Libra’s moveset as you’ll swiftly progress into the Everdark Sovereign phase.
Moveset |
Description |
---|---|
Phase Transition Stance |
Libra will initiate its Everdark transformation when it’s down to about a quarter of its HP. Avoid close proximity and do not touch the sigils summoned Condemned as they can accelerate Madness buildup. |
Enhanced Madness Rays |
This remix of the crystal shooting sigil attack will now rotate left to right while unleashing crystal bursts, so be prepared to dodge systematically. |
Enhanced Madness Circles |
This ground eruption attack can be lethal for fragile characters like Ironeye. The enhanced version generates random spawn points within the arena for these bursts, even occurring with the normal attack. |
Quadrant Segments |
A game-changing new attack where Libra segments the arena into four parts, creating invisible barriers that briefly trap players. Crossing these walls inflicts damage, so stay put until the segments disappear. |
Enraged Rampage |
Once weakened or if you trigger the Madness debuff on him, Libra transitions into a more aggressive state, pounding the ground before delivering a large Madness Rain attack. This represents an ideal damage opportunity. |
Teleportation |
In conjunction with the Madness Circles, Libra will move around the arena and may even teleport directly to players for follow-up strikes. |
Strategies to Defeat Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast
Phase One

To kick off your encounter, focus on Libra’s base form as he begins in his phase two configuration. It’s crucial to conserve your healing flasks; they will be indispensable once the Everdark phase commences.
Immediately, I recommend inflicting the Madness effect on Libra, as this will provoke his enraged form. By doing so, you can deal significant damage and potentially stagger him, facilitating a smoother transition into his Everdark phase.
Keep an eye out for his melee strikes with the staff.Don’t overestimate your offensive potential to the detriment of your team’s revival possibilities. Losing a teammate this early is a setback you want to avoid.
Phase Two

The primary focus during this phase revolves around one critical aspect: your survivability.
Both trios and duos present a whirlwind of chaos in this encounter, especially if you allow too many of the Condemned Nightfarers to remain unchecked, particularly those who attack from a distance.
Eliminating these Condemned will yield glowing orbs that can provide slight damage bonuses and heal your team.
Team composition here is vital. If you have multiple Wylders, anticipate relentless ranged arrow attacks that can severely hinder your strategy.
Utilize the Riot debuff as your tactical opportunity to focus fire on Libra, as the NPCs are likely to turn on one another. Their damage won’t disturb your tactic against Libra, providing you a chance to regroup against Ekra.
Utilizing the Madness Preach debuff can significantly expedite the process of stacking Madness against Libra, propelling him into an enraged state.
Employing one team member to divert the Condemned NPCs could assist as a strategy, however, do what works best for your individual player styles and team strengths.
If you can navigate through this phase without being downed, the auto-revive will be an invaluable asset, ultimately paving the way for your final assault on Libra.
