Have you successfully overcome the formidable Everdark Sovereign Gaping Jaw? If so, prepare yourself for a new challenge in Elden Ring Nightreign—the Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight. This boss is known for its increased difficulty, presenting a true test of your skills and teamwork.
The upgraded version of the Darkdrift Knight will push your limits like its predecessor never did. Ensure that you and your allies are fully equipped and ready for an intense battle, as once you engage, there’s no turning back.
Optimal Team Compositions

The challenge of the original Darkdrift Knight is heightened with its Everdark Sovereign iteration. To triumph against this overwhelming enemy, it’s essential to assemble a robust team. During my victory over the Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight, I utilized a strategic team comprising Ironeye, Raider, and Guardian. My role as Ironeye allowed me to provide long-range support, inflicting damage while reviving teammates when necessary. Utilizing Bleed and Frostbite effects proved advantageous throughout the fight.
Another effective team setup includes Wylder, Guardian, and Recluse. Recluse excels at casting incantations, especially potent lightning spells, while Wylder serves as a formidable damage dealer, supported by Guardian’s protective shield.
Distinguishing Features of Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight

Like other encounters with Everdark Sovereign bosses, the Darkdrift Knight features significant variations compared to its standard form. Here are the key differences to keep in mind before entering the fight:
- Increased health pool
- More frequent area-of-effect (AOE) attacks
- Commences in phase two, transitioning to a new variation midway through
- Exhibits heightened aggression
Despite these changes, it’s important to note that this version maintains its weakness to lightning damage. Equip yourself with lightning-infused weapons and spells for maximum impact. If you’re struggling to find lightning weapons, consider applying Relics to your starting build for an added edge.
Strategies for Defeating Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight

To start your battle against the Everdark Sovereign variant, navigate to the expedition menu at Roundtable Hold.**Select the bottom purple bar** labeled ‘Darkdrift Knight’ to initiate the confrontation.
As with any standard expedition, you must complete two earlier encounters against Night Bosses before facing the Darkdrift Knight on the third day. During this preparation period, prioritize leveling up your character; reaching at least level 13 is highly recommended. Search for lightning weapons in areas highlighted with small lightning symbols on the map, especially if a team member plays as Ironeye. These weapons will prove invaluable and can be further enhanced with status effects like poison, scarlet rot, bleed, and frostbite.
Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight Moveset

The Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight retains the moveset characteristics of its traditional second phase. Upon entering this phase, it will discard its dark arm and replace it with a real, fully functional arm.
Below is a summary of the new moves you should be aware of:
Moveset |
Description |
How to Avoid |
---|---|---|
Holy Trot |
The boss ascends using a beam of holy light, leaping around before firing an explosive arrow shot with a large AOE. |
When the boss charges its bow, run in the opposite direction to dodge the AOE damage. |
Holy Arrow Rain |
The Darkdrift Knight fires an arrow skyward that summons a rain of arrows targeting players, inflicting holy damage. |
As soon as the arrow is shot, sprint away to dodge the incoming rain of arrows. |
Holy Twinblade |
The boss conjures a twinblade forged from holy energy and executes a series of slashes, culminating in a powerful leap. |
Dodge towards the boss to avoid the initial strikes and evade away when he crashes down. |
Soaring Blast |
The boss leaps high and unleashes a powerful ground attack with a spell. |
Move to the side or to the rear of the boss as he channels the spell. |
Twinblade Combo |
The Darkdrift Knight employs the twinblade, delivering a series of slashes, leaps, and AOE attacks. |
Position yourself behind the boss to mitigate damage and dodge towards him if he strikes in your direction. |
The boss will transition to its second phase once its health drops to around 50-60%.At this point, it will introduce fresh maneuvers, and you can disregard its earlier attacks. Positioning becomes crucial; staying to the side or behind the boss can help you evade direct confrontations with its strikes. Expect rapid, long sequences of attacks that might obscure your timing during this new phase.
Having a Guardian or Raider in your lineup is beneficial during this challenging phase, as they can absorb considerable damage. Characters with less durability should remain at a safe distance, attacking from the sidelines to maximize their impact safely.
Beware of overextending; frequent attacks may drain your stamina, leaving you vulnerable. Prioritize dodging and execute attacks in bursts—hit the boss a few times and then retreat. This method allows you to interpret the boss’s attack patterns more effectively. Continue this cycle until the Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight is defeated.
Rewards for Defeating Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight

Triumphing over the Everdark Sovereign Darkdrift Knight will yield a selection of Relics, which is standard for encounters with a Nightlord in Elden Ring Nightreign. Upon your first defeat of this boss, you will also earn 25 Sovereign Sigils. Subsequent victories over the boss will continue to reward you, although the amount of Sovereign Sigils will diminish to approximately 5.
