In the vast world of Elden Ring Nightreign, players may stumble upon a rare and enigmatic item known as the “Cord End.” This legendary artifact is accompanied by a rather vague description: “Gain entry somewhere.” For those familiar with the game’s expansive landscapes, this cryptic clue can make pinpointing its use both challenging and intriguing.
Given the game’s extensive map and time constraints due to weather changes, locating the precise spot for using the Cord End can be a daunting task. This comprehensive guide will reveal crucial insights into acquiring and utilizing the Cord End effectively in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Utilizing Cord End in Elden Ring Nightreign
The Cord End unlocks a concealed door situated north of the castle at the heart of the game map, specifically along the river that traverses the castle grounds. The door is cleverly camouflaged against the rocky landscape, so be vigilant to avoid overlooking it.
Attempting to engage with this door without the Cord End results in a message stating: “Opens only for those who wield merit.” However, when you have a Cord End in your inventory, interacting with the door will grant you access.
Rewards for Using Cord End

Upon successfully opening the hidden door using the Cord End, players will find a lengthy pathway that leads to a statue. Nearby, there are three Sacrificial Twig Talismans available for collection.
These talismans provide significant benefits, ensuring your character retains their level and runes upon dying. For instance, if you perish at level 13, you will respawn at the same level, making these items invaluable during your journey through the Nightreign.
With three Sacrificial Twig Talismans available behind the Cord End door, every member of your party can secure one, significantly boosting your team’s resilience during quests.
Locating the Cord End in Elden Ring Nightreign

Cord Ends are notoriously rare within Elden Ring Nightreign, often regarded as one of the most elusive items in the game. In my personal experience, I have only encountered this item on three separate occasions, despite being an avid player since the release.
Fortunately, patterns emerge in its discovery. Cord Ends generally appear in boxes, with the highest likelihood of drops occurring in church locations. I recommend thoroughly searching and destroying boxes at any churches you visit, as this can be efficiently accomplished by sprinting through them.
The presence of a Cord End is indicated by the dropping of a gold item from the box. In my 80 expeditions, the sole gold item discovered in church boxes has consistently been the Cord End.
When you obtain a Cord End, it is advisable to utilize it on Day 2 of your expedition, which provides an optimal window for accessing the castle. Rather than deviating from your usual path to reach the secret door, aim to approach it naturally during your journey.
Communication with teammates about possessing a Cord End is crucial, as it ensures that everyone can benefit from a Sacrificial Talisman. If verbal communication isn’t feasible, consider utilizing the ping feature to indicate the Talisman’s location.
