El Taiger, a prominent Cuban reggaeton artist, is currently in critical condition after being shot in the head in Miami. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, October 3. Miami Police spokesperson, Mike Vega, informed Telemundo 51 that authorities found an unconscious male suffering from a gunshot wound to the forehead in the back of an SUV located on Northwest 17th Street, near 10th Avenue.
There were no traces of blood, indicating that the shooting did not take place inside the vehicle. CBS News Miami confirmed that the victim was indeed El Taiger. El Taiger, whose real name is José Manuel Carbajal Zadivar, has gained significant popularity in the Latin music scene, particularly for his contributions to reggaeton.
In 2016, he launched his musical career with the debut album “Taiger”under the Rottboyz label, owned by rapper Cosculluela. Since then, he has become well-known for releasing hits that blend urban styles with Cuban influences, including tracks like “La Historia,””Papelito,”and “Habla Matador.”
El Taiger: The Renowned Cuban Singer
Born in Havana in 1990, Cuban reggaeton musician El Taiger grew up in a musically-inclined family that deeply influenced his passion for music. He began his journey by writing songs in his youth and later transitioned to professional songwriting. In the latter half of 2010, his debut album “Taiger”achieved rapid success across Latin America.
Following this, he enjoyed a series of hits with songs like “Huracan,””Pa Que Sigues Con El,””Muna,””Southwezzzt,””Anikilando,””El Punto,””El Basta Con el Detente,””Zelle,”and “Marca Mandarina,”many of which featured collaborations with various artists. Recently, El Taiger was shot, prompting friends and fans to gather outside the hospital in support, expressing great concern for his health and eagerly awaiting updates on his condition.
Limited Information on El Taiger’s Current Condition
Authorities have released minimal information regarding El Taiger’s condition post-shooting. Following the incident, he was transported by emergency services to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is currently on life support and scheduled for surgery, as reported by local news outlet NBC6.
Police spokesperson Mike Vega provided insight to E! News on October 4, stating,
“Our officers are investigating because we believe this did not happen in the city of Miami. We are sure it did not occur at the corner where the car was found. This incident transpired elsewhere; someone drove the vehicle there, left it, and exited on foot.”
Additionally, officials stated that El Taiger was found with two gallons of fuel in the trunk of the vehicle. Vega further mentioned,
“We know there was a lot of blood inside the SUV. He was in the back, and officers had to open the back of the SUV to get him out.”
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement has not provided further details regarding the shooting incident.
