Introducing Microsoft Teams’ New Agent: Facilitator
Microsoft Teams, the leading communication and collaboration platform from the tech giant in Redmond, is setting a new standard with its latest upgrade. The recent introduction of an innovative feature called Facilitator promises to enhance the efficiency of meetings, streamlining both preparation and follow-up tasks.
What is Facilitator?
Facilitator is an intelligent agent designed to integrate seamlessly into your Teams meeting experiences. Its primary goal is to automate routine tasks, allowing users to concentrate on more critical aspects of collaboration.
Key Features of Facilitator
This powerful tool comes equipped with several practical capabilities, including:
- Visual timeline markers for tracking discussion topics
- Collaborative, real-time note-taking
- Answers to participants’ questions
- Task tracking and management
- Document drafting capabilities
- Capturing spontaneous discussion points
Facilitator can be activated before or during meetings; however, it is important to note that it cannot be used in meetings initiated from a chat, Teams call, or channel call.
How to Enable Facilitator
Users can conveniently enable Facilitator from either Microsoft Teams or Outlook. To do so in Teams, follow these steps:
- Go to Calendar
- Select New Event
- Click the option to Turn on next to the message indicating that “Facilitator is off for this meeting.”
For Outlook users, the process is just as straightforward:
- Access Calendar
- Choose New Meeting
- Select More commands (…) > Teams Meeting
- Toggle the Facilitator option
Real-World Applications
Facilitator proves to be particularly effective in a variety of scenarios, such as:

Availability and Limitations
Currently, Facilitator is accessible to all Microsoft 365 Copilot customers. However, functions related to task tracking and document creation are still in public preview, indicating that further enhancements may be on the horizon.
