Easy Ways to Locate Crops, Wood, and Minerals in AC: Shadows

In any settlement, three fundamental resources are essential for growth: crops to sustain the population, wood for constructing shelters, and minerals to build robust walls and structures. In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, these resources are critical for transforming a modest homestead into a bustling community, making them key elements of gameplay.

Understanding Hideout Resources in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Hideout Resources serve two primary purposes:

  • Establishing essential amenities such as a Study, Dojo, or Forge at your Hideout.
  • Enhancing and upgrading existing buildings and facilities to maximize their benefits and bonuses.

While it’s possible to progress through the game without heavily relying on these resources, leveraging them can yield significant advantages. Not only do they facilitate Naoe and Yasuke’s missions, but they also empower them to become formidable foes in combat.

To bolster your capabilities—be it acquiring more Scout charges, rare equipment, or powerful allies—you’ll need a consistent supply of crops, wood, and minerals. This foundational infrastructure is essential for achieving tactical superiority in various challenges.

Optimal Locations for Gathering Resources

While it’s possible to find minor amounts of crops, wood, and minerals within hostile bandit camps or around castles, relying solely on these small caches won’t substantially impact your stockpile. Here are two efficient methods for amassing larger quantities:

  • Identify resource caches in bandit camps and castles, which can be collected by your Scouts at the end of each season.
  • Purchase additional crops, wood, and minerals from port traders.

As Naoe and Yasuke navigate Feudal Japan, players will encounter golden caches symbolized by a barrel icon within marked hostile territories and castles. If approached stealthily, players can expend two Scout charges to discreetly transport these resources back to their homestead, typically yielding about 150 units of crops or wood and half that amount in minerals.

Should you need to replenish your Scout charges, visit a Kakurega for a nominal fee of 200 mon per Scout.

Alternatively, keep an eye out for traders marked with an anchor symbol on your map. These vendors, primarily Portuguese merchants, often possess a variety of essential items, including the hideout resources you seek. While their inventory may typically include only two of the three resource types, stocks refresh regularly, allowing you to cycle through merchants to accumulate what you need.

At the beginning of the game, consider heading to Sakai, where a trader is located on the western outskirts near the port. Another great spot is Otsu in the Omi region, accessible from the southern side of Lake Biwa, where you’ll find another trader supplying crops, wood, and minerals.

Notably, these traders often maintain reasonable pricing, enabling you to acquire up to 750 units of each material at once—generally sufficient to complete your desired building or upgrade in a single transaction.
