Nintendo has announced the expansion of its My Nintendo app, previously exclusive to Japan, to a wider global audience. After five years of anticipation, millions of users now have access to the Nintendo Store app on both iOS and Android platforms, significantly enhancing their shopping experience.
Launched in 2020, the My Nintendo app was originally limited to Japan. Although users in other regions occasionally spotted the app in their app stores, they were unable to use it due to geographic restrictions.
Now, players in the US, Canada, the UK, and various European nations can download the app, marking a notable improvement in accessibility compared to its previous limited reach.

The app is available for free on both iOS and Android devices.
Using the App: Account Options
You can browse the store without a Nintendo account, making it user-friendly for casual shoppers. However, to make purchases, track your game statistics, or earn rewards, you will need to log in to your Nintendo account.
Simply input your login credentials when you launch the app or tap the profile icon in the lower right corner to sign in.
Shopping Made Easy: Games, Consoles, and Accessories
Navigating the Nintendo store has often been a cumbersome task, especially on Switch consoles. With the Nintendo Shop app, users can enjoy a streamlined shopping experience without the need to switch to a mobile or desktop browser.
The app prominently features bestsellers, discounts, and partner showcases, making it easier to discover your next gaming adventure. You can filter searches specifically for Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 titles.

Navigate through the home page or use the Search icon to pinpoint a specific game, console, or accessory. However, it’s important to note that purchases cannot be completed within the app; users will be redirected to a mobile web page to finish their transactions. While this adds an extra step, it may help prevent unintentional purchases.
You can easily create a wishlist by selecting the Heart icon next to any item to keep track of desired games and hardware.

If you’re upgrading your console, consider resetting your old one and selling it to a new gamer. However, remember that the app only allows purchases of new games, and lending games must be done via your Switch.
Stay Updated with Nintendo News
The Nintendo Shop app excels in delivering timely updates about game releases and events. Users who have relied on the Switch for news may have missed key announcements during periods of inactivity.
By selecting the News icon, you can access the latest updates, with options to filter by categories such as Games News, Events, and Promotions.

Managing Your Nintendo Wishlist
If you’ve set up a wishlist, it’s beneficial to regularly check for sales on your preferred items. Access your wishlist by tapping the Heart/Wishlist icon at the bottom of the app, where you can view your selections and even share them as gift hints.
To quickly see which items are discounted, simply click on the On Sale filter at the top.

Customizing Notifications
Stay informed about the latest Nintendo news and promotions by setting up notifications. Access your profile, tap the Settings icon, and navigate to Notifications to customize your preferences.
Make sure to enable notifications for the categories that matter most to you, ensuring you won’t miss out on important updates.

Monitor Your Game Stats
The app also allows you to track your gaming activity right from your profile. By tapping Play Activity, you can view your recent gaming history across your Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles.

By linking your Nintendo Network ID (NNID), which was used on older platforms like the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, you can also access your gaming history prior to 2020. Note that Wii support is currently not available.
Earn Rewards by Checking In
If you participate in Nintendo events or visit physical stores, you can gain rewards. Simply ensure location services are enabled on your mobile device, launch the Nintendo Store app, access your profile, and select Check In.
You will be prompted to choose the event or store. Rewards are displayed after completing your check-in process, and all your check-in history can be reviewed in your profile.

Explore Other Useful Features
The app offers additional conveniences, allowing you to manage payment methods, check your reward points, and redeem download codes seamlessly. While shopping, you’re directed to the mobile browser for transactions, freeing you from logging in again.
To access these features, simply tap your profile icon. Keep in mind that certain games, consoles, and features may vary based on your region, and adjustments to your Play Store or App Store settings might be necessary to access them.
