EA Tightens Restrictions on Battlefield 6 Portal XP Farms and Boosts Match XP Rewards

Battlefield 6 Progression Changes: EA Takes Action

Shortly after the launch of Battlefield 6, EA and Battlefield Studios found themselves soaring with impressive sales figures, while players began to voice frustrations over the slow progression system. Many gamers noted that leveling up to unlock weapons and attachments took an excessive amount of time, leading to complaints predominantly from PC players.

Players Discover XP Farming Tactics

In response to the grinding nature of progression, players swiftly adapted by utilizing the Portal mode. They created bot-filled matches, allowing them to accumulate XP at an accelerated pace. EA attempted to counter this phenomenon by shutting down popular XP farms, but new ones continued to pop up, ultimately maxing out Portal’s server capacity.

Introducing New Progression Updates

In a recent Community Update post on X (formerly Twitter), EA and Battlefield Studios announced a more constructive strategy to enhance player experience. They are not only clamping down on XP farms but are also implementing significant changes to the XP system aimed at making progression more rewarding. The studio acknowledged player feedback regarding the lengthy unlocking process:

Key Changes to XP and Progression

According to the update, Battlefield Studios outlined three pivotal adjustments that will roll out within the next week:

  • Match Completion XP Increase: XP gained from completing matches will rise by 10%, while the daily bonus will see a substantial boost of 40%.
  • Quicker Access to Attachments: The XP required to unlock the first 20 attachment ranks will be decreased, allowing players to earn essential attachments almost twice as fast.
  • Lowered Assignment Ranks: Assignments that previously required career ranks of 20, 23, and 26 will now only need ranks of 10, 15, and 20, respectively.

Further Considerations on XP Farms

Regarding the ongoing issues with XP farming in Portal, EA stated, “We are developing adjustments that are intended to diminish the number of XP farms taking up server space while further emphasizing playing with friends on both custom and verified experiences.”

A Look Forward

All these advantages are set to be implemented in-game within a week, but the studio emphasized the necessity for ongoing modifications. Adjustments will evolve as developers gather player feedback post-update. Additionally, it is noted that when the Portal update goes live, all experiences, both custom and verified, will require players to republish them before activating new servers.

Overall, EA and Battlefield Studios’ approach to refining the progression system appears promising. By tackling the root causes of player dissatisfaction rather than merely targeting exploitation mechanisms, they aim to create a more engaging player experience. Hopefully, these enhancements will significantly improve the gameplay experience for all players.
