The latest report from global analytics firm Newzoo has revealed the leading PC and console games for September 2025, focusing on revenue generation and monthly active user (MAU) counts. Topping the revenue charts was EA Sports FC 26, though it surprisingly fell short of a top 10 spot in active users. Meanwhile, the eagerly awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong managed to outperform several major triple-A titles, securing a position among the top five in revenue.
In the revenue rankings, NBA 2K26 claimed the second spot, followed by Borderlands 4 in third.Fortnite, despite a slight drop from its previous month’s standings, held the fourth position.Hollow Knight: Silksong made an impressive debut in fifth place, indicating the game’s successful launch after considerable anticipation.
Below Silksong on the list, Counter-Strike 2 took sixth place, while the other notable release for September, Dying Light: The Beast, came in seventh. Rounding out the top ten were Helldivers 2 in eighth, EA Sports Madden NFL 26 in ninth, and Valorant concluding the group at number ten.

Despite its leading revenue position, EA Sports FC 26 did not feature among the top games for monthly active users. Instead, this metric was dominated by Skate, debuting at sixth place, alongside last year’s installment, EA Sports FC 25, which held a surprising rank given the launch of its successor. This phenomenon can be attributed to the short four-day window available for FC 26 to build its user count, as it was released on September 26.
The monthly active users chart experienced minimal changes, reflecting stability, with Skate as the sole new entry. Both Fortnite and Call of Duty maintained their positions at the top of the list, while Helldivers 2 regained a foothold in the top 10 after entering the ninth spot, aided by its recent Xbox launch.
Outside the top ten, No Man’s Sky saw a remarkable increase of 34 positions in the MAU rankings, landing at number 18, largely driven by the excitement surrounding its new *Voyagers* update. Meanwhile, Hades 2 cracked the top 20 revenue charts at number 20, benefiting from its release of version 1.0 last month.
