EA Confirms Respawn’s Development of Final Chapter in Star Wars Jedi Trilogy

Cal Kestis is set to return for a third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series. During the live presentation for EA’s Investor Day on September 18, Laura Miele, the president of EA’s Entertainment and Technology division, announced that the third entry in this beloved franchise is currently in development.

In discussing the success of the series, Miele remarked, “Respawn is diligently working to deliver the final chapter of this exciting story to players.”

This isn’t the first indication of a new game in the pipeline. Actor Cameron Monaghan, who provides both the likeness and voice for Cal Kestis, hinted last year that he is actively participating in the creation of a new Star Wars Jedi title.

It was also revealed that over 40 million fans have engaged with the franchise to date.

“We have produced some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games in history, amounting to over $5 billion in net bookings,” Miele stated. “This remarkable achievement includes the Star Wars Jedi games, where more than 40 million players have followed Cal Kestis on his journey to becoming a formidable Jedi.”

Developed by Respawn Entertainment, the series commenced with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in 2019, providing an action-packed experience set several years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, was launched in 2023 for current-gen platforms including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with a release for last-gen consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) arriving just yesterday, September 17.

Although the title has been well-received for its narrative and combat mechanics, it has faced significant performance issues since its debut. A recent update for the PC version was released last week, which eliminated Denuvo DRM and provided performance enhancements.
