Dying Light 2: The Beast Side Quest Guide for Staying Human

As you traverse the Castor Woods region, you will come across several characters in need of Kyle’s assistance, primarily through various sidequests. One notable quest to undertake is the “Stay Human”sidequest, which takes place at the Exiled Cave.

This quest introduces you to Liam and Jamie, two brothers facing a dire situation. Liam’s serious health condition, primarily due to a weakened immune system, puts his life at risk. Jamie, determined to find a remedy, enlists Kyle’s help to ease his brother’s suffering.

Investigate the Abandoned Pharmacy

Your first task is to navigate to the Pharmacy marked on your map to search for a crucial medication that may be stored in an old fridge.This Pharmacy is considered a Dark Zone, where you can obtain valuable items and essential resources. Thorough exploration is vital, as the items collected can aid you throughout the game.

Locate the fridge in the back room. After picking the lock and entering, you’ll find it—but alas, it’s empty. With Jamie not present, Kyle must inform Liam of the fridge’s contents (or lack thereof) and await further instructions before moving forward.

Look for the Band T-Shirt

Upon exiting the pharmacy, Liam requests Kyle’s assistance for a few additional tasks—this time for Jamie, since his birthday is approaching.Liam’s request is for a gift: a band T-shirt from the infamous Bloodsucking Bunnies.

Be cautious of military-infected enemies lurking outside. Once you arrive at the Fashion Store, loot it meticulously as it is another Dark Zone filled with undead threats. Here, you’ll also collect essential crafting materials, especially valuable rags.

Fortunately, the prized shirt is conveniently located on a rack immediately to your right as you enter the store, next to the changing rooms. Use Kyle’s Survivor’s Senses to help locate it easily, then make your exit to continue the quest.

The Mountain Resort

The final item Liam needs can be found at the family’s Mountain Resort. Prepare for a lengthy drive to reach the cabin. Once you arrive, park below the hill leading up to the cabin, as enemies await.

Raiders are currently scavenging the area, so prepare for a combat encounter. Utilize your weapons strategically, as some raiders may engage from a distance, prompting you to use firearms as well.

The Wine Cellar

After clearing the area, make your way inside the cabin.Your next objective is to find the Wine Cellar, which is easily accessed by opening the left doors that lead to the basement stairs.

Upon reaching the basement, navigate through a vent to enter the wine cellar. Collect the two wine bottles highlighted by your objective marker to complete this part of the quest.

Head to the Attic

Liam’s next request is for you to venture into the attic.Return to the main entrance and head through the right doors, discovering a small room with a vent at the bottom.

Crawl through the vent and climb the yellow pipe to reach the attic. Among the dusty books, you’ll find a page of a manual, but the primary goal is to retrieve a cherished family photo that Liam sketched as a child.This touching moment is showcased through an emotional cutscene—a truly heartwarming highlight of the quest.

Head to the Farm & Back to the Cave

Liam now wants you to meet at a farm located south of the Exiled Cave.However, as you approach, an unexpected turn of events unfolds. Liam expresses his gratitude via radio, and Kyle holds back his concern for Liam’s situation.

Upon reaching the farm, you’ll find Liam transformed into an infected. In a bittersweet gesture, you must end his suffering. To honor Liam’s wishes, return to the Exiled Cave, deliver the gifts to Jamie, and inform him of Liam’s fate.

In a poignant twist, it turns out that Liam’s story was a ruse; it wasn’t Jamie’s birthday after all. Liam hoped to shield his brother from the impending reality of his condition, proving his clever and loving nature until the end.
