Last week, Wade and his actress wife, Gabrielle Union, were on vacation and shared photos of their trip on Instagram.

After his retirement in 2019, Dwyane Wade has not been a part of the league. However, the organization retired his No. 3 Heat jersey the following year.

The Players Who Inspired Dwyane Wade

Despite growing up in Chicago, Dwyane Wade was a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls. This was the reason behind his decision to join the Bulls for a single season. Throughout his time with the team, he looked up to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, who had led the franchise to six championships in the 1990s.

Despite the end of the Jordan and Pippen era, Wade still found a few players to look up to. During a recent episode of ‘The Why with Dwyane Wade, he shared:

“But as I got older and I was able to, kind of, you know, get out of my MJ love phase once he stepped away, then I opened it up a little bit. … To like [Allen] Iverson and Kobe [Bryant].”

He also mentioned that he wasn’t particularly fond of the New York Knicks and didn’t watch many Patrick Ewing games.

“I really wasn’t, like, Patrick Ewing. I wasn’t really watching Patrick Ewing.. .. Plus, I didn’t like New York either. No, I can’t stand the Knicks.”

Wade’s incredible talent as a player was greatly influenced by Iverson and Bryant. His 2003 draft selection also provided him with the opportunity to play against his two idols.

In 2023, Wade chose Iverson to present him at his induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. The ex-Philadelphia 76ers player joined Wade on stage as he delivered his speech.
