DWTS Partner Ezra Sosa Calls Anna Delvey’s Controversial Elimination Comment “Very Iconic”

DWTS Partner Ezra Sosa Calls Anna Delvey’s Controversial Elimination Comment “Very Iconic”

Anna Delvey’s involvement in Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) was bound to generate controversy, and her elimination on Tuesday night was no different. After she and her dance partner, Ezra Sosa, were voted off the show, Delvey had a blunt reply when host Julianne Hough inquired about what she would “take away”from the experience. The 33-year-old simply stated, “Nothing.”

Her succinct response went viral, although Sosa, 23, wasn’t surprised by it. In a conversation with ExtraTV, Sosa shared that he “would expect nothing less”from the infamous “fake heiress,”known for her brazen attitude.

“I knew she was going to say something very iconic and something very Anna Delvey with her exit,”Sosa told ExtraTV. “Of course, she has to. It’s typical.”

While Anna Delvey’s emotionless reply captured the public’s attention, Sosa disclosed that she was more remorseful behind the scenes than she appeared to be during the broadcast. He explained that Delvey felt bad for cutting his first DWTS season short.

“She honestly just kept on apologizing to me,”Sosa remarked. “She felt super sorry that my first season was cut short, and I was like, ‘No, don’t apologize. I’m here for you, and this was your journey.’

Despite her controversial final remarks, Sosa defended Delvey, characterizing her as “incredibly sweet”yet “misunderstood.”He emphasized that the true person behind her public persona is much kinder than most people realize.

“I think the people that treat her as ‘Anna Delvey’ — she feels the need to portray that to them,”he explained. “But when I was dancing and teaching her, I really tried my best to see her for the person she is outside the persona, and she truly is so lovely.”

Anna Delvey Struggled to Adapt to DWTS

Sosa has been one of Anna Delvey’s most vocal champions since her contentious casting on the dance show, but he recognized that Delvey was not initially ready for the demanding competition. During a podcast appearance, Sosa mentioned that Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, did not fully understand the extent of what she was getting into by joining the show.

While Delvey exhibited some work ethic, Sosa admitted that it was difficult to fully engage her at first.

“Like every single day she was kind of like, ‘Ugh, I don’t want to do it,’ but now she is here, and obviously, she doesn’t want to make herself look like a fool, so she is really putting in the work now,”he told podcast host Joe Vulpis.

Despite their efforts, Anna Delvey and Ezra Sosa were eliminated in the second week of the show. After the premiere episode, Sosa revealed that Delvey was significantly impacted by the harsh feedback she received online.

The fashionista, who previously pretended to be a wealthy German heiress, was reportedly found crying in the bathroom due to the negative comments, as noted by Sosa. “It really did break my heart,”he expressed in an emotional TikTok, urging fans to give Delvey a “second chance.”

With her stint on Dancing With the Stars concluded, Anna Delvey will return to her residence in New York City, in accordance with her agreement with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Delvey, who has been convicted of various charges including attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services, has been under house arrest since 2024 while contesting deportation.

Though her time on DWTS was brief, Anna Delvey’s participation kept viewers engaged, and her final, curt remark resonated with her established public image.

Dancing With the Stars season 33 continues airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available to stream the following day on Hulu.
