In the recently released Lost Harvest DLC for Dune: Awakening, players are thrust into an urgent crisis after the harvester from the Spice Miner’s Guild has been downed. The crew faces dire circumstances: some members have been taken hostage or killed, and the entirety of the communication system has collapsed.
Amidst the chaos, Lt. Drangh, a survivor from the Mithra crew, is working diligently to restore the comms system. After scavenging parts from the debris, she aims to assemble a short-wave transmitter and boost its signal. This walkthrough will guide you through completing Lt. Drangh’s Boosting the Signal contract, which involves a few critical tasks: repairing a relay beacon, finding the Mithra’s side entrance, activating the auxiliary power supply, and re-establishing the distress signal.
However, players should be prepared for challenges, as the comms station is engulfed in flames, filled with toxic gas, and swarming with dangerous creatures, known as Kirab.
Locating the Relay Beacon
To embark on the Boosting the Signal mission successfully, my Mentat character, Boris, climbed atop the harvester for a strategic overview. Looking to the North/Northwest, he identified the relay beacon perched atop a rock formation, as illustrated in the image above.
For ease of navigation, ensure you track the Boosting the Signal contract, and keep an eye on the quest marker displayed on your screen’s compass.
Danger lurks ahead, so let Boris lead the charge.
Boris Faces an Ambush
Equipped with my reliable Shigawire Claw, Boris made swift progress across the terrain towards the beacon. With a simple switch activation, the beacon began to function again, but an ambush was imminent.
Just as the beacon flickered to life, a Kirab pounced from the cliffs. This was a fatal mistake as Liliha, my steadfast companion, and I quickly retaliated, unleashing a barrage of bullets.
Two additional foes approached from behind.
Boris suffered a shot to the arm but was undeterred and fired back.
After dispatching the Kirab and repairing the relay beacon, you’ll need to consult with Lt. Drangh for further directions.
Finding the Mithra Side Entrance
Once the relay beacon is operational again, the automated distress signal abruptly fails. Lt. Drangh then tasks you with locating the comms station within the harvester and activating the auxiliary power supply to restore the beacon.
Your initial objective is to locate the Mithra side entrance.
After accepting the quest, head directly north. There’s a path beside the harvester that culminates at a windmill (visible in the previous image), and just beyond this, you will discover the side entrance.
Boris sensed the impending danger.
An Unexpected Ambush
Upon entering the comms station, Liliha and I were met with fiery chaos and toxic fumes along with a hoard of Kirab lurking nearby. Ol’ Boris was cornered by gunfire while taking cover behind flaming machinery, gasping in the toxic air—action was imperative.
He took the shot—Bullseye!
With the threats neutralized, your next critical task is to locate the identification band necessary to proceed with the quest.
Defeating the Kirab in this vicinity will also conclude the NO TRESPASSING contract from Quartermaster Hix.
Where to Find the Identification Band
The identification band you seek is situated in a side room on the Western side of the main area where the ambush occurred. Be cautioned, the room is heavily engulfed in flames, and portions of the flooring have crumbled away, necessitating careful jumps.Search behind the machinery for the identification band.
Finding the Auxiliary Power Supply
With your identification band in hand, return to the large room and proceed through the door in the South-East corner of the room. You will arrive at the auxiliary power supply shown above.
When activated, it will prompt you to reactivate the distress signal, but accessing that area requires some finesse.
Steps to Locate and Reactivate the Distress Signal
Next to the auxiliary power supply is a structure that resembles a vent (illustrated above).This is the route you must take to reach the distress signal.
Upon opening that door, proceed straight ahead until you hit a wall. Turn right and look up; you’ll see an opening to the next space below.
At the end of this hallway, you’ll encounter another vent door. Beyond it is a pentashield, which you can access thanks to the identification band you previously acquired.
Walk through the pentashield, and just around the corner, the distress signal (showcased below) awaits your attention.
Once you reactivate the signal, return to Lt. Drangh to finalize the contract.
Upon completing the Boosting The Signal mission, all that’s left for Lt. Drangh is to monitor the emergency frequencies, hoping for a timely rescue before an impending sandstorm disrupts their situation.
Throughout years of enduring sandstorms and relentless desert warfare, Boris has emerged as a battle-hardened Mentat, masking his emotions. Yet, hidden beneath this stoic exterior lies a fading memory of youth and warmth.
As he bid farewell to Lt. Drangh, a flicker of hope sparked in his eyes—a smile suggested a yearning for the day they might meet again.
