While you may not possess the unique skills of a Fremen in Dune: Awakening, navigating the vast landscapes of Arrakis offers multiple options, including the intriguing fast travel feature.
Though the presence of fast travel might not be immediately clear, it is nonetheless an integral part of gameplay. Accessing this feature raises the question of its effectiveness and whether players should rely on it at all. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how fast travel operates, the destinations it offers, and considerations for its use.
Fast Travel Mechanics in Dune: Awakening
Understanding Fast Travel in Dune: Awakening

Unlike many expansive open-world titles, Dune: Awakening does not allow for unrestricted fast travel. Instead, this option becomes available only after reaching your first trade post, located in the southern segment of the Hagga Basin.
Once you successfully access Griffin’s Reach, the initial trade post, fast travel options will open up. You can hire a pilot to transport you to either Harko Village, the Harkonnen hub on Arrakis, or Arrakeen, the city that serves as a refuge for the Atreides forces. These locations not only act as social hubs for player interaction but are also filled with essential NPCs who offer advanced training for Trooper and Mentat skill development.
The pilot’s services will cost you 2, 500 Solaris for travel to either Harko Village or Arrakeen. However, the return journey to your chosen trade post is complimentary. Additionally, should you wish to journey between various trade posts within Hagga Basin, that will also incur a charge of 700 Solaris. However, note that you won’t be able to fast travel to any trade post that you haven’t previously visited; you must reach it manually first.
Considerations for Using Fast Travel

The decision on whether to utilize fast travel is nuanced and highly dependent on your current position within the game. If you have not yet crafted your own ornithopter, leveraging fast travel is recommended. Accessing Arrakeen or Harko Village without it is virtually impossible unless you physically land with an ornithopter.
However, if you have successfully crafted your own ornithopter, fast travel through the pilot becomes less crucial. You gain the ability to reach Arrakeen or Harko Village on your own terms, effectively making this your preferred mode of transportation.
Moreover, when considering travel between trade posts, unless you are in close proximity to one and have the 700 Solaris readily available, it may be more efficient to make the journey yourself—particularly if you possess an ornithopter. The freedom it provides truly represents the most formidable form of fast travel in Dune: Awakening.
