Once you feel comfortable navigating Ground Zero, it’s time to venture onto other maps in Escape From Duckov. Your reliable weapons merchant, Xavier, will soon approach you with a unique request that you won’t want to ignore.
If you’re familiar with Escape From Tarkov, the mere mention of a “bronze pocket watch”may evoke a sense of dread. Unlike Prapor from Tarkov, however, Xavier’s interest isn’t sentimental; he cryptically states, “don’t ask why.”
Locating the Mechanical Key in Escape From Duckov

The quest description aligns with the original game’s lore, indicating that the coveted bronze pocket watch is stowed away in a truck’s cabin attached to an orange fuel cistern. While locating it is relatively straightforward for those familiar with Ground Zero, accessing the cabin requires a key.
Instead of scavenging the map for the Mechanical Key, you can conveniently purchase it from the Vending Machine for just 660 duck bucks. This option allows you to bypass unnecessary searching in the wild.
When you’re ready to access the truck cabin, you can either bring the key with you or register it through the Key Registration Device if you have constructed one in your bunker.
Finding the Bronze Pocket Watch in Escape From Duckov

The target truck is positioned in the southeastern corner of the map, just across the river. You have several routes to reach it, each carrying different levels of risk: cross via two orange-marked bridges, utilize the sewer extract (illustrated with a blue bullseye), or approach from the north.
The northern route is the least advisable as it forces you to traverse through Small Hill or a scav camp, passing by the Road Camp where Pato Chapo and his aggressive mercenaries could pose a threat.
If you opt for the bridges, ensure that they are functioning; you will need two units of wood, easily found in toolboxes nearby or available for purchase from the vending machine.
Be cautious on the northern bridge, as it is notorious for heavy scavenger presence, and stray gunfire can attract unwanted attention from mercs.
Conversely, taking the southern bridge past the radio antenna allows for a smoother passage with minimal opposition from just a couple of scavengers.
Your best bet for a swift retrieval of the pocket watch is through the sewer system. This requires prior access from the surface and unblocking the hatch. If successful, you can quickly grab the watch and make your escape in under a minute.
Regardless of your chosen route, retrieving the bronze pocket watch is straightforward. Approach the truck cabin, use the Mechanical Key to unlock it, loot the watch, and make your getaway. If you haven’t yet cleared the boxes blocking the manhole cover, now is the time to do so and dive into the safety of the sewers. Wouldn’t it be great if everything in Tarkov was this manageable?
