DRX and Dplus Secure Spots in PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024
South Korean esports organizations DRX and Dplus have secured their spots in the highly anticipated PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2024. DRX clinched their position by emerging victorious in the Pro Series 2024 Season 3 Korea, while Dplus earned their entry based on their accumulated points in the Korean circuit. Both esteemed teams are set to compete in the League Stage of the championship, commencing on October 31.
This year, the PMGC will feature a total of 49 teams from around the world, with 48 of them participating in the League Stage. Additionally, Guild Esports has received a direct invite to the Finale, making this a highly competitive fifth iteration of the tournament. So far, 23 teams have been confirmed for participation.
Performance Review of DRX and Dplus in PUBG Mobile Pro Series 2024 Korea Season 3
DRX, known for their skilled roster, had a mixed performance during the League Stage of PMPS Season 3 Korea, finishing sixth in the overall standings. However, they displayed remarkable improvement in the Grand Finals, ultimately topping the leaderboard. The team amassed an impressive 200 points, including four Chicken Dinners across 18 matches.
In addition to their Grand Finals success, DRX dominated the regional PMGC points leaderboard, thanks to their consistent performances throughout all three seasons of PMPS this year. In June 2024, they bolstered their squad by acquiring DUKSAN Esports, who previously won Pro Series Season 1, and they finished fourth in the PUBG Mobile World Cup earlier this July.
Dplus, another prominent team, displayed exceptional consistency during PMPS Season 3, ending up in second place overall. They were crowned the champions of Season 3, with standout player Noblu receiving the MVP award for his outstanding contributions. Dplus secured the second position in the regional PMGC points standings.
Despite strong League Stage performances, several teams faltered in the PMPS Season 3 Grand Finals. Notably, Nongshim Redforce, considered a top contender in the League, placed ninth in the Finale. Infinity also showed promise but fell short by a margin of 16 points.
The teams finishing third to tenth in PMPS Season 3 will be vying for victory in the upcoming PUBG Mobile Rivals Cup Season 2, pitting Korea against Japan. The winner of this event will earn a spot in the PMGC 2024. The competition will feature eight teams from each region and will take place on October 19 and 20.
