WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2.
In an unexpected twist, Drolta Tzuentes reappears in Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2, despite being seemingly killed by Alucard in the Season 1 finale. Navigating the intricate world of vampires and supernatural beings in this animated series can be quite challenging, especially as it unfolds 300 years after the original Castlevania. The second season picks up directly from where we left off, introducing new developments and character arcs.
Although Erzsebet Báthory has been positioned as the main antagonist of the series, her influence has largely been felt behind the scenes. Initially, Drolta served as her most devoted ally, orchestrating preparations for the impending return of the Goddess of War. Alucard’s swift elimination of Drolta in Season 1 raised significant questions about Erzsebet’s plans and the potential for Drolta’s return in the following season.
Drolta’s Resurrection as a Night Creature
Retaining Memories and Consciousness

Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne delves deeper into the capabilities of a Devil Forgemaster, demonstrating how Drolta, originally a vampire, was resurrected as a night creature by the Abbot. Tasked with creating an army for Erzsebet, the Abbot faced the challenge of retrieving Drolta’s soul from Hell, a task that was fraught with uncertainty. This season marks the first instance where we see the Forgemaster process applied specifically to a vampire, highlighting the complexities involved.
Drolta, voiced by Elarica Johnson in the English dub, returned not merely as a spectral being, but as a formidable hybrid of vampire and night creature. Interestingly, she emerged from this transformation more powerful and intimidating than before, retaining her memories and consciousness—similar to the predicament faced by Edouard in the series.

Throughout Season 2, the narrative shifts to emphasize Drolta’s role as the true mastermind behind the series’ events. Not only did she resurrect as a vampire-night creature hybrid, but viewers also gain insights into her historical background in Ancient Egypt. The striking revelation that Drolta was the one who sought out Erzsebet Báthory to transform her into a vampire adds depth to her character. Driven by a longing to resurrect the goddess Sekhmet, she spent years searching for the ideal vessel to possess the necessary power.
Drolta’s influence throughout the series becomes increasingly evident, proving that she has been the orchestrator rather than merely a supporting figure. The season’s climactic battle illustrates this shift, revealing that defeating Drolta, now more empowered than before, poses a far greater challenge for Alucard compared to their earlier confrontation.
