Dr. Contessa Reveals an Unseen Mishap on Below Deck Sailing Yacht: “It Was Horrible”

The fifth season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht kicked off on Monday, October 7, 2024. Captain Glenn Shephard and his dedicated crew aboard the Parsifal III embarked on a journey to Ibiza, ready to host their inaugural charter guest along with a large party. This season’s first guest was Dr. Contessa Metcalfe, known from Married to Medicine.

While everything appeared to be running smoothly, there was an incident that didn’t make it to air. During an interview with The Daily Dish, published on October 7, 2024, Dr. Contessa disclosed that she faced a “small situation”while on board.

“My luggage did not arrive…It was terrible, [but] everyone was incredibly kind,”Dr. Contessa noted.

Despite the missing luggage, the first charter guest of Below Deck Sailing Yacht expressed that she felt at ease, thanks to the crew’s unwavering support and efforts to assist her throughout her stay.

“Everyone was so kind”— Dr. Contessa commended the Below Deck Sailing Yacht team in season 5

As she recounted the luggage issues, the Married to Medicine star explained that her bags didn’t arrive at the layover. Consequently, she had to borrow outfits and make last-minute purchases from some “adorable little”shops located by the pier before settling in on the yacht.

Once the crew became aware of Dr. Contessa’s predicament, they quickly reached out to offer assistance in any way they could. Their thoughtful actions left a lasting impression on her, and she couldn’t help but praise their hospitality.

“Everyone was so kind. They even offered to head into town to shop for me. I can only sing their praises,”she remarked.

Daisy, the Chief Stew, went above and beyond to ensure Dr. Contessa felt at home, even lending her a personal skirt, which earned her accolades for her kindness. The doctor described Daisy’s exceptional efforts and noted her interactions with the rest of the crew were “fantastic.”

Thanks to the concerted efforts of the entire crew, Dr. Contessa and her party thoroughly enjoyed their time on board. Reflecting on her experience, the Married to Medicine star shared that she and her friends had “such a wonderful time”that they “didn’t want to disembark.”She praised the “amazing”service they received throughout their journey.

In her discussions about the trip, Dr. Contessa expressed her excitement for traveling with loved ones.

“We truly enjoy traveling in style, so this was just outstanding. I’ve longed to visit Ibiza, and I felt like I might be reaching an age where that was slipping away, so it was lovely to do it in such an elegant way,”Dr. Contessa explained.

She further remarked that because she and her friends lead such “structured”lives, a getaway to “the ultimate party destination”was something they eagerly anticipated. Ibiza had always been on her travel bucket list, but circumstances had never aligned for her to go.

When the invitation to join Below Deck Sailing Yacht as a charter guest arrived, she recognized it as the perfect chance to make her dream a reality.

“And to have the opportunity to do it on a yacht — a magnificent sailboat — is just the icing on the cake,”she concluded.

Dr. Contessa expressed her admiration for the crew’s service, describing it as “an exquisite experience”where she felt attended to “at every moment of every day.”Her overall experience on the yacht, she claimed, was “pure luxury from start to finish.”
