Speech to Text Feature

• Introduction of AI capabilities via OpenAI’s Whisper thanks to the whisper.cpp project.
• Accessible through the Subtitles > Speech to Text option or via the Speech to Text icon.
• The included model strikes a balance between speed and accuracy while remaining lightweight. (Think of the model as the AI brain.)
• A larger, more proficient model is available in ggml format for configuration in the Speech to Text dialog, though it may result in longer processing times.
• The dialog effectively sets up two tasks visible in the Jobs panel: one for audio export and another for text conversion.
• Results integrate into the Subtitles panel as a newly added top-level Subtitle Track.
• Currently, only Apple Silicon GPUs are supported; otherwise, processing relies heavily on multi-threaded CPU performance.
• A known limitation is that subtitle items may appear earlier than intended. The timing relies on the model and tool, and improvements in this area are not feasible due to resource constraints.
• Expect occasional inaccuracies as the conversion is not perfect. Bug reports concerning specific audio-to-text discrepancies will not be addressed.

OpenAI advises caution regarding the use of its Whisper models: Particularly, using Whisper for transcribing recordings of individuals made without consent is discouraged. Enhanced Transition Functions

• Ripple Deleting a transition will restore all clips involved in that transition.
• Lift (non-ripple delete) will no longer leave empty gaps; instead, adjacent clips fill in the empty space.
• Shifting a neighboring clip further away will extend the transition duration rather than create a gap.

• The Export > Video > Resample button has been removed, replaced with inline warnings when making specific changes.
• Addition of File > Show Project in Folder option in the menu.
