Introducing Media Player Classic – BE: Enhanced Playback for Windows
Media Player Classic – BE (MPC-BE) is a versatile and free audio and video player designed specifically for Windows operating systems. Built upon the original Media Player Classic project by Gabest and the Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) project initiated by Casimir666, MPC-BE offers a suite of new features and improvements that enhance user experience.
This Black Edition Mod (BE) is aesthetically pleasing, boasting a modern interface that stands out compared to the traditional MPC. The latest version, MPC-BE 1.8.2, has introduced several noteworthy updates and optimizations, ensuring users enjoy a seamless media playback experience.

Audio and Video Enhancements
- MpaDecFilter: Now supports “On2 Audio for Video Codec” (0x0500, 0x0501).
- MpcDvdVideoDecoder: Optimized the I420 to NV12 conversion and resolved playback issues with static DVD menus on older ATI/AMD graphics cards.
- RoQSplitter: Enhanced I420 to NV12 conversion efficiency.
- MPCVideoDec: Added functionality to handle incorrect YUV frames, accommodating 4:2:0/4:2:2 formats with odd dimensions.
- AudioSwitcher: Fixed connectivity issues with the MPC Audio Renderer when dealing with high audio sampling rates absent a decoder.
YouTube Support Improvements
- Enhanced support for YouTube video parsing within the application.
- Improved compatibility with yt-dlp for better downloading capabilities.

- Implemented playback of historical entries with the “Enter”key.
- Resolved issues with file paths formatted as URLs (file://).
