
Introducing Media Player Classic – BE: An Enhanced Multimedia Experience
Media Player Classic – BE (Black Edition) is an open-source audio and video player designed for Windows users. Built upon the foundations of the original Media Player Classic (developed by Gabest) and the Media Player Classic Home Cinema (led by Casimir666), this version introduces numerous enhancements and fixes to improve overall functionality. The Black Edition comes with a visually appealing interface that significantly elevates the user experience compared to earlier iterations of Media Player Classic.
What’s New in MPC-BE 1.8.4
The latest version, MPC-BE 1.8.4, incorporates a variety of updates and features across multiple components. Below, we outline the key changes categorized by functionality:
Standalone Filters
- Resolved filter registration issues related to folders containing Unicode characters.
Matroska Splitter Enhancements
- Introduced a new setting for “Re-indexing if necessary.”
- Improved the speed of rewinding in cases where indexes are missing.
MP4 Splitter Improvements
- Enabled track name retrieval from the “mdia/hdlr”atom for certain incorrectly formatted files.
MPCVideoDec Updates
- Added support for additional HEVC decoders tailored for D3D11 and D3D11 copyback modes.
- Users are advised to update their drivers for the latest Nvidia and Intel graphics cards.
MpcAudioRenderer Fixes
- Corrected infrequent crashes occurring when changing input formats.
- Improved the “Release device when idle”feature, which now functions in Shared mode by default.
