Download Microsoft Edge 130: Enhanced Settings and New Features
Microsoft has launched Edge version 130 in the Stable Channel, bringing a plethora of minor enhancements and bug fixes, alongside several significant updates, particularly an upgraded navigation system within the Settings. The improved Settings now provides users with quicker access to frequently used configurations, common operations on content-rich pages, and a table of contents feature (note that these settings updates will be rolled out progressively).
Below is the detailed changelog highlighting the new features:
- Token Binding. In an effort to enhance security for bearer tokens—which can be susceptible to theft—Token Binding, which relies on cryptographic certificates at both ends of the TLS connection, has been deprecated in Microsoft Edge version 130. Consequently, the AllowTokenBindingForUrls policy is also no longer in use.
- Copilot Browser Context Policies. The policy EdgeEntraCopilotPageContext will be introduced with Microsoft Edge version 130, replacing the now deprecated CopilotCDPPageContext policy, which will be discontinued in Edge version 133.
- Enhancements to Settings Accessibility. Microsoft Edge is implementing three navigation upgrades within the Settings to better streamline the discovery of browser settings. While the functionality of the individual settings remains unchanged, they will now be organized behind clickable sections. The improvements include:
- Providing quick access to the most utilized settings actions on the main landing page for Edge Settings (the Profiles page). By clicking the relevant setting’s button, users will be directed immediately to its designated area.
- Facilitating navigation on densely populated settings pages (like Privacy, Search and Services, Appearance, Cookies and Site Permissions, System and Performance) by introducing fast access to the primary actions found on those pages. Users can click the setting’s button to jump to the specific location.
- For those densely packed pages, each extensive section will feature a clickable “table of contents”accompanied by informational subtexts, enabling users to pinpoint settings quickly and minimize excessive scrolling.Note: This is a controlled feature rollout, so if it’s not yet visible, please check back as the rollout continues.
- Seamless Link Opening in Teams on macOS. Under the latest version of Microsoft Edge, users can enjoy a smooth experience opening links shared in Teams chats directly in Edge. When Edge is designated as the default browser for web links in Teams, it will launch with the correct user profile matching the logged-in account, enhancing integration across Microsoft applications. Administrators can manage feature availability via the “Choose Which Browser Opens Web Links”setting in Microsoft 365. Note: This feature is also undergoing a controlled rollout, so availability may vary.
Here are the bug fixes included in Microsoft Edge 130:
- Resolved a problem where the briefcase icon was missing from the edge://settings/sidebar page when Edge Bar was disabled through the StandaloneHubsSidebarEnabled policy.
- Fixed rendering issues that affected certain SharePoint sites.
Additionally, this update incorporates several minor improvements and tweaks that were first introduced in the Dev Channel for version 130:
- Dev Channel update to version 130.0.2808.0
- Dev Channel update to version 130.0.2821.1
- Dev Channel update to version 130.0.2835.2
