Apple has officially released the candidate build for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, marking a significant milestone for developers. This announcement paves the way for the public update, anticipated to drop next week. Interestingly, the ninth developer beta version was launched just last week, breaking Apple’s usual pattern of providing eight beta versions prior to the release candidate. If you are a developer, you can now download and install this version on any compatible iPhone or iPad.

Revamped Designs and Enhanced Functionality: iOS 26 and iPadOS 26

iOS 26 represents a substantial upgrade, featuring a host of new functionalities alongside the striking Liquid Glass redesign. To get started with the installation of the release candidate, navigate to the Settings app on your device. From there, go to General > Software Update > Beta Updates, and follow the subsequent instructions to download and install the update. Remember, you need to link your Apple ID to your Developer Account to receive this OTA update. The installation process remains identical for both iPhone and iPad devices.

The enhancements in iOS 26 are noteworthy, as this update introduces a variety of front-facing features aimed at improving the user experience on iPhones. The Liquid Glass redesign alone is expected to revitalize the aesthetic of even older models. In addition to this, numerous enhancements and extensions for the Messages, Photos, Camera apps, and more have been integrated into this update. Although there have not been major updates to Apple Intelligence this year, the overall utility of the system is significantly upgraded.

On the other hand, iPadOS 26 emerges as an equally transformative update for iPads. It maintains the Liquid Glass redesign, transforming the iPad into a formidable competitor against traditional Macs and laptops. In line with Apple’s ‘What’s a Computer’ initiative, the new interface and features reinforce this device’s capabilities. Notably, iPadOS 26 introduces enhanced windowing functions that mimic those found in macOS, along with a new menu bar akin to that of a Mac. Users can also look forward to a suite of new productivity tools and features designed to elevate their usage experience.

Beyond iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, Apple has also rolled out release candidate builds for macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26 for developers. Stay tuned as we continue to cover these developments comprehensively.
