• Read Aloud: Configurable additional pause option at the end of each sentence when using the Piper TTS engine.
• PDF Output: New variables _WIDTH_PIXELS_ and _HEIGHT_PIXELS_ have been introduced to specify the dimensions of the header/footer area in templates.
• Windows: By default, Calibre will now utilize bundled SSL certificates instead of relying on the system’s certificate store.
• This can be disabled via the CALIBRE_USE_SYSTEM_CERTIFICATES=1 environment variable.
• Trim Image Tool: New control added for adjusting the aspect ratio of images.
• Kobo Driver: Now supports the latest firmware for the Tolino Shine 5.

PDF Input: Enhanced Header/Footer Detection and Removal

• A brand new PDF Input engine has been incorporated, which automatically detects and removes headers and footers through document analysis. This engine is set as the default; to revert to the previous engine, choose it within the PDF Input section of the Conversion dialog.

Bug Fixes

• Resolved a regression in the previous version that affected copying of books to another library if the author did not exist in the destination database.
• Read Aloud functionality: Fixed an issue where the Piper backend was incompatible with voices containing non-ASCII characters on Windows.
• Content server: Corrected issues preventing books with non-ASCII filenames from downloading in the Kindle browser during mobile view.
• Content server: Fixed an error caused by embedding server HTML within third-party iframes.
