Walkthrough for the Sentinel Barracks in DOOM: The Dark Ages

As you navigate through the Sentinel Barracks chapter, keep an eye out for the following collectibles and secrets:

6 Secrets
1 Codex Entry (Collectible)
1 Toy (Collectible)
1 Weapon Skin (Collectible)
1 Demonic Essence (Armor)
2 Rubies

As previously noted in our other chapter walkthroughs, it’s important to remember that secrets and collectibles may not occupy the same space. Some secrets might contain Gold and other valuables like Life Sigils, while various collectibles may be positioned in plain sight instead of hidden away.

Additionally, make sure to consult your map frequently! It will pinpoint collectible and secret icons whenever you’re in proximity, and you can track what’s still uncollected by referring to the list on the right side of the map.

Finding Secret #1 and Collectible #1

At the start of the Sentinel Barracks chapter, follow your primary objective until you face off against a Mancubus and several soldiers within a long hallway, following a previous outdoor encounter with another Mancubus.

Upon entering the hallway, direct your attention to the right side.

You’ll find a barricaded area that you can Shield Bash through. Inside, you’ll discover the first secret location, including the Hell Knight Toy along with some Gold.

Locating Secret #2

Proceed through the hallway where you encountered the Mancubus until reaching a compact region filled with smaller hallways and gates. You’ll need to activate a platform marked by a green sigil to reveal some Hot Metal available for Shield Throwing. Once you do this, it exposes a climbable wall, but don’t ascend just yet.

Instead, there’s a puzzle to solve that unlocks the second secret location for this chapter along with a Gold Chest.

Once you’re facing the newly accessible climbable wall, turn left into the subsequent hallway. Look up to find the green Flesh Node and perform a Shield Throw to reach an upper level.

Gather the Gold located there, and on the opposite side of the floor you stand on, a crate awaits your Shield Bash.

After you’ve moved the crate, jump down and use it to access the upper level on the far side of the room; this is our next secret location, which conceals a Gold Chest!

Continue advancing according to your quest marker, taking out Hell Knights along the way, until you encounter another hallway filled with enemies.

Uncovering Secret #3

In this next corridor, you’ll notice an interactive panel next to a locked door on your left.

Interact with the panel to open the door and proceed through the vents to collect the third secret location, which includes a Life Sigil and a bounty of Gold.

In addition, you can find a Ruby within a statue located in the next safe area, known as the Hangar, before heading outdoors and past the point of no return.

Preparing for Secret #4

Follow your objective through this area while ensuring to collect the Ruby in the Hangar. Eventually, you will arrive at the Sentinel Shrine.

At the Shrine, head behind it and stand on the platform marked with a red sigil, which triggers a gravity jet allowing further progress through the chapter.

Next, throw your Shield at the Flesh Node across from the platform and use it to jump over the crate nearby. Shield Bash the crate onto the previously mentioned platform to continue your journey using the gravity jet!

Once outside the Barracks, look for a small structure to your left, where an Imp Stalker is present. Inside, behind some wooden planks, you’ll find a Life Sigil.

Next, move towards the edge of the bridge and glance down to your left—you should see a small island adorned with gold bars. Sprint and leap onto it; then climb the nearby walls to unveil the next secret location and a Life Sigil.

Gaining Demonic Essence (Armor)

To acquire a Demonic Essence Armor upgrade, defeat the Mancubus you’ll encounter across the bridge shortly after.

Discovering Secret #5

In the subsequent area, you’ll find another broken bridge after defeating the Nightmare Imp Stalker, which are invisible until attacked. Jump onto the remaining section of the bridge, then retrace your steps.

Reach the climbable wall as previously indicated, then progress through the passage ahead to uncover the next secret filled with cultists and a Ruby. Ascend higher to continue your quest and gather additional Gold.

Finding Secret #6 and Collectible #2

As you proceed towards Dragon’s Den, traverse downward while adhering to your quest goal. Eventually, you’ll encounter a burning tree accompanied by incoming projectiles.

If you continue to the right, you can ascend the stairs to an area where allied soldiers reside, uncovering our last secret location alongside a Weapon Skin!

Finally, as you reach the next Sentinel Shrine, explore the area to the left prior to moving on. Here, you will find a Codex Entry, marking our final collectible. You can now complete the chapter!
