In Doom: The Dark Ages, players can enhance their weaponry and armor through the collection of Ruby and Wraithstone items. These collectibles are often concealed within challenging enemy encounters or intricate puzzles, making them elusive targets for dedicated players.
For those who find themselves struggling to unearth every Ruby and Wraithstone across the game’s expansive levels, our comprehensive guide below details their precise locations. Keep in mind that not every chapter features these items; if a chapter is omitted, it simply means there are no collectibles to be found there.
Chapter 4 – Sentinel Barracks
The first Ruby can be collected right at the start of the game during the tutorial section.
To find the second Ruby, look for a broken bridge. Turn around to discover an area below with a climbing wall leading directly to it.
Chapter 5 – The Holy City Of Aratum
The first Ruby in this chapter is hidden behind a locked door. To access it, locate the green switch and look up for a breakable red lock. Use your shield to shatter it, which drops a stone onto the switch, allowing you to retrieve the Ruby.
After taking down four ships and vanquishing a formidable demon, dive down to the bottom of the citadel where two turrets await. Destroy them to enable a landing pad, and activate the green switch to break the red lock. This action unlocks access to a water zone. Swim around to find a pressure wheel that lowers the water level, providing access to the Red Key card. Utilizing a blue jumping pad will propel you to a concealed chamber containing another Ruby.
Chapter 6 – Victories – Part 1
Follow the golden path until you encounter a blue shield point; bash it to reveal a switch that opens the door to your next Ruby.
Access another Ruby by heading to this spot once you have acquired the Secret Key.
Clear out the enemies in this area to unlock a Ruby.
A Ruby here is submerged in water. To retrieve it, throw your shield at the blue power spot located above the gate, revealing the hidden Ruby.
Chapter 7 – Siege – Part 2
Once you’ve obtained the Secret Key from previous secrets, proceed to the courtyard to unlock a door leading to a Ruby.
Another Ruby is easily spotted on a crane as you continue through the stage. Just locate the crates at the crane’s base that provide climbing points.
Chapter 8 – Abyssal Forest
To collect a Ruby, drop off the ledge depicted on the map, entering a small underground area filled with water. The Ruby statue awaits you on the other side, along with a smashable red lock that leads back to the main path.
At the two broken towers, follow the gold platforms to find another Ruby hidden within this area.
Chapter 9 – Ancestral Forge
Ruby: This secret requires some jumping across platforms, but reaching it is relatively straightforward.
Ruby: To access this one, locate the locked gate. Look at the right wall for a blue shield bash spot. Activating it uncovers a new corridor with a breakable red link. Throw your shield to lift the gate, allowing access to the Ruby.
Wraithstone: To unlock the first Wraithstone, smash the wolf statues located in the three previously mentioned maps using your shield.
Chapter 10 – The Forsaken Plains
Use the Secret Key to unlock a door in this chapter where you’ll need to battle various enemies. Post-battle, you’ll be able to claim the Ruby that resides here.
Another Ruby is located in an area accessed via the Secret Key.
Utilize the smashing grates as an elevator to reach an upper level in order to snag the Ruby.
The final Wraithstone for this chapter can be found at the end of the level after completing all enemy encounters in the last section.
Chapter 12 – Sentinel Command Station
Continue through the level and drop down through the indicated hole as shown on the map.
Chapter 14 – Spire Of Nerathul
While aboard the ship, descend to the lower level as noted on your map to find a blue jump pad. This pad launches you to a ledge where some gold and a Ruby await.
Upon landing on the first dragon section, veer right into the water and swim to discover a passage leading to a secret room housing a Ruby.
After unlocking the last objective, search for a landing zone near the stage’s bottom. Locate an archway that leads to a secret area containing a weapon skin and a Wraithstone.
Mount the dragon, reach the highest elevation, then navigate to a distant mountain housing a giant demon. Defeating this demon will unveil a landing pad leading to yet another Wraithstone.
Chapter 15 – City Of Ry’uul
As you venture through the level, aim to unlock the Dreadmace. Within a chamber marked on the map, you’ll find a blue shield point in the ceiling. Deploy your shield here to reveal the sliding floor, leading you into the water below and subsequently into a chamber with the Ruby statue.
Progress through the stage until you reach the Upgrade station. There, a blue shield bash spot on the right wall leads to a drop uncovering the Aggadon Hunter toy, with the Wraithstone positioned above it.
A Ruby can also be spotted in the final sections of the stage, particularly at the location marked on your map.
Chapter 16 – The Kar’Thul Marshes
Navigate to the Wolf Statue and drop down to the ledge below. Locate a door adorned with small green lights that doesn’t require a key to access. Entering this door will transport you to a new area. Swim to the bottom of the pool, and you’ll find a portal that teleports you above a block in the center of the room.
Use your shield on the red lock overhead to expose an eye lock. Position yourself at the eye gate, align it with the green eye, and throw the shield to move the gate obstructing the Ruby statue. You can then utilize the water portal again to reach the block, from where you can jump to the Ruby.
Chapter 16 Wraithstone & Wraithstone Locations
A part of the secrets found in Chapter 16 involves gathering a Wraithstone by breaking four wolf statues. The specific locations of these statues are outlined in the image gallery above.
Chapter 17 – Temple Of Lomarith
The Ruby here is prominently placed on a bridge above the initial area. Defeat nearby monsters and follow the winding path to claim it.
Proceed to the map location and bash the blue shield wall. This action leads to a monster-filled area lacking map data. After vanquishing the enemies, descend into a seemingly dead end where you’ll find the Wraithstone in the lower dungeons.
Once you acquire the Secret Key, locate the door near the Upgrade station to uncover another Ruby.
Chapter 18 – Belly Of The Beast
Instead of moving towards the objective, backtrack and jump into the area containing the Ruby.
Chapter 19 – Harbor Of Souls
In this section, jump onto the spinning metal platforms, locate a blue shield spot, and use your shield to open a door below that leads to a Ruby.
Chapter 20 – Resurrection
This Ruby is located north-east of the map in a tunnel that can be accessed via orange spikes susceptible to your shield. Look for the section that contains the Blue Key.
Break open the Gore Portal and defeat all foes to unlock access to the Ruby.
Once you possess the Blue Key, return to this location to open the door, eliminate the monsters within, and secure the Ruby.
Chapter 20 Wraithstone & Wolf Statue Locations
One of the Wraithstones can be obtained by destroying the revealed Wolf statues depicted above with your shield.
Chapter 22 – Reckoning
Instead of following the green armor shards, take the route along the path made of flesh, which will lead you to an area with a Ruby statue.
This Ruby is relatively easy to locate. Just deviate from your main objective after acquiring the Life Sigil to encounter a simple blue panel puzzle that prior to your climb path, reveals the Ruby.
Once you have obtained the Secret Key, navigate to this point on the map to find a Wraithstone.
After securing the Secret Key, head over to the mapped location where the Ruby is hidden.
