Dolph Ziggler discloses original finish for his major WWE Title win

Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, revealed the details on WWE’s initial plan for him to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

In 2013, Ziggler possessed the highly sought-after Money in the Bank briefcase, granting him the opportunity for a championship match at any time and place. During the April 8th edition of Monday Night RAW, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio had just finished a demanding bout, resulting in him being injured inside the ring.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, The Showoff cashed in his MITB contract and mercilessly attacked his opponent’s injured leg. Despite delivering a devastating move, Del Rio managed to kick out. In an exhilarating three-minute match, both men executed their signature moves and traded pins until Dolph Ziggler ultimately sealed the victory with the Zig Zag, earning him his first-ever World Heavyweight Championship title.

During an interview on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Nic Nemeth shared that WWE had initially suggested for him to simply use his Money in the Bank briefcase to defeat Alberto Del Rio and win the title. However, the 43-year-old wrestler was not in agreement with this idea and pushed for a more exciting finish, wanting the moment to be truly memorable.

“Little inside thing, what they (WWE) wanted it to be was, ADR’s hurt, I come down, hit him with the briefcase five or six times, and just pin him. And I feel I go, ‘We’re missing out on a couple of moments here.’ So I fought to have this like three-minute match that has five or six ups and downs in them and they gave me two and half of the three minutes to make it happen,”Ziggler said. The backstage struggles that hindered Dolph Ziggler’s WWE push

Konnan, a veteran in the world of wrestling, inquired about whether backstage drama was the primary cause for the former United States Champion’s diminished WWE push during their conversation.

Nemeth acknowledged that his momentum in the Stamford-based promotion may have been affected by complications with certain individuals or management backstage. He stated:

“Absolutely, yeah! No one would tell me, and it’s the usual couple of things: one, out of context, sure, somebody, some people, or a group. whatever an idea. But also, it’s showbiz, and if they [WWE] don’t want to go with you, they can make a better excuse; they can find an excuse; they have an excuse; there could be legitimate ones; and it’s out of your hands at some point.”

After his tenure with WWE, The Showoff captured the IWGP Global Championship from David Finlay at NJPW’s The New Beginning event. He is also a frequent presence on TNA Wrestling, leading to speculation in the wrestling community about a possible appearance at All Elite Wrestling in the near future.
