Introducing the New Companion for Season 2
The latest companion joining the Fifteenth Doctor is Belinda Chandra, portrayed by Varada Sethu. Together, they will mark a historic moment as the first non-white TARDIS team in the show’s long history, reflecting the progressive direction that Doctor Who continues to embrace. Interestingly, Sethu previously appeared in the series as Mundy Flynn during the episode titled “Boom, ” though it remains unclear how or if these characters are connected.
For those who miss the previous companion, Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, there’s no need for concern. Although her storyline wrapped up last season, she makes an appearance in the teaser trailer!
Villains Set to Challenge the Doctor
If you were hoping to see classic adversaries like Daleks or Cybermen return, you may need to wait a bit longer. Thus far, there has been no announcement regarding the return of these iconic foes. Instead, we are introduced to a new antagonist — a menacing animated character named Mr. Ring-a-Ding, voiced by the talented Alan Cumming, who is also known for his previous role in Doctor Who.
“Only Alan Cumming could bring a runaway cartoon to life with such wit, malice, and danger, ” said Russell T Davies, the showrunner of Doctor Who.“He makes the universe of Doctor Who more vibrant and unpredictable, and we’re thrilled to welcome him back to the TARDIS.”
Alan Cumming’s return is noteworthy; he previously graced the screen as King James I during Jodie Whittaker’s inaugural season.

Viewers can expect to see Jemma Redgrave reprise her role as Kate Stewart, a character who has become integral to the series over the years. We can also look forward to Anita Dobson as Mrs. Flood, who hinted at significant storylines during her monologue in the season one finale.
Another surprise return is from Susan Twist, who portrayed the enigmatic Susan Triad last season. Speculation is rife that she might now be aligned with UNIT.
Moreover, fans will be introduced to a host of new characters played by Michelle Greenidge as Ruby’s adoptive mother, Carla, as well as Ruth Madeley as Shirley Ann Bingham. Additionally, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Christopher Chung, and Jonah Hauer-King will feature in yet-to-be-revealed roles.
