“Do I get deported if a legal alien invades me?” – Andy Roddick makes fun of Donald Trump’s reported remarks on illegal invaders
Andy Roddick criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump for his declaration that he would deport individuals who had “illegal aliens”trespassing in their residences. Roddick shared a brief video of Trump making this statement during a speech in Greenbay, Wisconsin.
During his term from 2017-2021, the ex-U.S. President enforced stringent immigration measures. These measures encompassed travel restrictions from designated nations and large-scale removals through roundups and the establishment of detention centers for undocumented immigrants.
Despite taking office in 2021, Joe Biden, the Democrat counterpart, had a starkly different approach. He chose to implement more lenient immigration policies, however, he faced challenges with managing the high number of illegal migrants.
As the primary contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, Trump pledged to continue his hardline approach towards illegal immigration if elected for a potential second term.
Despite this, a brief video shared on social media clearly captured Trump using the term “illegal aliens”to refer to undocumented immigrants.
“If your consitituonal rights have been violated, we will defend you. If you have illegal aliens invading your home, we will deport you,”Donald Trump can be heard stating as per a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Upon viewing the clip, 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick was immediately drawn to it and provided a comical response.
“Sh**. So if I get invaded I also get deported? Do I get deported if a legal alien invades me? What happens to the invaders?”reacted Roddick.
As the US presidential elections draw closer, Roddick frequently turns to social media to express his political opinions.
Maddock had posted a photo of a plane landing at Detroit Metro airport, falsely asserting that it was carrying illegal migrants. However, a reporter from the nearby news station WXYZ later verified that it was actually the Gonzaga men’s basketball team arriving for the Sweet 16 tournament in Michigan.
Despite the backlash Maddock received on social media, including criticism from Andy Roddick, it was clear that he had spread misinformation.
“This has been viewed 3.7 million times. Many of whom have accepted this as fact ……. It was the Gonzaga basketball team. It was a college basketball team. Not “three buses loaded up w illegal invaders….. with a police escort,” wrote Roddick on X (formerly Twitter).
Despite retiring from tennis over a decade ago, Roddick has continued to stay involved in the sport. He frequently makes appearances on Tennis Channel and has recently launched his own podcast, where he frequently discusses all things tennis.
