Recap of DNA Lover Episode 15: Intense Confrontations, Heartfelt Revelations, and Sorrowful Farewells

The episode opens with a flashback of Yi-myung (played by Lee Cheol-woo), observing from a distance as Yeon-woo and his family joyfully participate in a hospital event. Yeon-woo’s father expresses his wish for eternal happiness, provoking Yi-myung’s intention to shatter that joy.

The narrative shifts dramatically as Yi-myung kidnaps So-jin, taking her to his mother’s greenhouse. He sends a daring message to Yeon-woo, urging him to rescue So-jin from their initial meeting spot. So-jin awakens, bound and in terror, realizing the assailant before her is not Father Andrea, but rather his twin brother.

Yeon-woo reflects on his childhood encounters with Yi-myung and races to the greenhouse, despite struggling with blurred vision and fatigue. Meanwhile, Kang-hoon prepares to extract a confession from Father Andrea, but A-ri interrupts their confrontation. Andrea reveals vital information about Yi-myung and urges Kang-hoon to retrieve the Bible that Yi-myung has taken.

When Kang-hoon arrives at the greenhouse, he discovers a map detailing various arson incidents. He uncovers that Yi-myung witnessed their mother’s tragic death in a fire at their family home. In a frantic rush, he informs Andrea and A-ri to notify the authorities.

In the greenhouse, Yi-myung tends to the grass, until Yeon-woo arrives in an effort to save So-jin but is quickly incapacitated by Yi-myung. Awakening later, Yeon-woo confronts Yi-myung, who blames him for the devastation of his family due to a revelation about his mother.

Yi-myung recounts the painful tale of how Yeon-woo’s disclosures led him to accuse his mother wrongly, culminating in a devastating fire. Overwhelmed, Yeon-woo listens as Yi-myung confesses to murdering his father and his father’s mistress, believing that the fire purified his mother, similar to an angel’s ascension. Yeon-woo counters by emphasizing that Yi-myung’s mother fought to save his father, highlighting Yi-myung’s inaction during the disaster, which ignites Yi-myung’s wrath.

A-ri and Andrea hasten to the scene with the police, and Andrea laments not intervening sooner, while A-ri offers comfort. After unleashing his rage on Yeon-woo, Yi-myung temporarily departs, allowing Yeon-woo to assure So-jin that his presence was triggered by her peril, echoing her earlier quest to find him.

So-jin shares her fears of heartbreak and the complexities surrounding finding her DNA lover, now recognizing that her earlier beliefs regarding destiny and happiness have eroded with Yeon-woo’s aid.

Yeon-woo expresses his faith in destiny, questioning whether his deceit as her supposed DNA lover has jeopardized her safety. He vows to set things right.

Mi-eun pays a visit to Yeon-woo’s mother and notices her waking up. She tries to reach Yeon-woo, but her calls go unanswered. Yi-myung returns with gasoline. Yeon-woo desperately argues for So-jin’s release, claiming she is innocent in their feud, while Yi-myung rebuffs him, reminiscent of his father who never acknowledged his existence.

So-jin attempts to reason with Yi-myung, reminding him of his family—highlighting Andrea’s commitment to seeking forgiveness. She assures him that the death of their mother was not his doing, urging him instead to embrace the present with his loved ones. Yi-myung dismisses her words as futile and steps outside, igniting the plants surrounding So-jin, leading to a rapid fire outbreak in the greenhouse.

After breaking free, Yeon-woo cuts So-jin’s bonds, and as they attempt to flee, the structure begins to collapse amid the flames. Yeon-woo protects So-jin from debris, narrowly saving her life. Kang-hoon arrives at the scene and observes Yi-myung outside, before entering the burning building to rescue the pair, accompanied by police, Andrea, and A-ri. Yi-myung confronts Kang-hoon but is ultimately left to perish in the inferno, haunted by visions of his mother.

So-jin and Yeon-woo are rushed to the hospital, where So-jin regains consciousness while Yeon-woo’s condition remains precarious, his lungs filled with smoke and his hand severely burned. Overwhelmed with emotion, So-jin learns about his dire state, while Kang-hoon conceals his injuries sustained while trying to save his friends.

As dawn breaks, Yeon-woo awakens and inquires about So-jin, prompting Kang-hoon to rush to her side. Visitors including So-jin’s family and Kang-hoon’s father arrive, with the latter maliciously revealing details of So-jin’s kidnapping, shocking her loved ones. So-jin later seeks out Yeon-woo to apologize for his injury, yet he reassures her that he should be the one to say sorry. When she questions his potential move to the U.S., he clarifies that it’s for his mother’s sake—a fresh start. However, their conversation is interrupted by the entrance of Mi-eun and Jung Tam, prompting So-jin to exit.

Before Yeon-woo is discharged, his doctor warns him about the possibility of permanent damage to his hand impacting his surgical career. Meanwhile, Andrea manages to retrieve the Bible that Yi-myung had stolen.

Later on, Yeon-woo visits his mother, who confesses her remorse over past misunderstandings, stating she rushed to save his father during the fire. This admission highlights Yeon-woo’s longing for the connection he and So-jin have shared in their efforts to save each other. His mother apologizes for her shortcomings as a parent, yet he forgives her and expresses a desire for her to cook for him once she recuperates.

Mi-eun informs So-jin of Yeon-woo’s imminent departure that evening, detailing his sacrifices for her sake. Shocked, So-jin hastens to the airport.

As Yeon-woo awaits his flight, he glances toward the entrance, hoping for her arrival. A former patient, who had a suicide attempt in a previous episode, shows up with her child to bid farewell. The clock runs out, and Yeon-woo boards the plane.

In the closing scene of *DNA Lover* episode 15, So-jin reaches the airport, only to find that Yeon-woo has already left. Overwhelmed by the realization that she is too late, she succumbs to tears.
