DJ Akademiks Expresses Nervousness Over Previewing Doodie Lo’s New Song Live Following Lil Durk’s Arrest
DJ Akademiks recently shared a preview of a new track by Doodie Lo, a member of Lil Durk’s Only The Family (OTF) collective, during a livestream. The popular internet figure expressed apprehension about playing the song, citing his uncertainty about its content. This event unfolded just after Lil Durk was taken into custody on serious “murder-for-hire”allegations, related to a shooting incident in 2022 involving Quando Rondo.
On October 27, 2024, Akademiks introduced Doodie Lo’s track titled My Brother’s Keeper, confirming that it was set to launch the following day. He remarked:
“I’ve got the song, but I’m a bit nervous to share it since I’m unsure of its message. This is the first instance. OTF has been really quiet.”
Earlier, on October 24, Lil Durk was apprehended in Florida, accused of orchestrating a hit on Quando Rondo back in 2022. During the incident, Rondo and his cousin Lul Pab were targeted while in a car in a Los Angeles neighborhood. While Rondo escaped unharmed, his cousin tragically lost his life during the attack. Billboard reported that the charges against Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, included the following statement:
“Banks [Lil Durk] issued a financial reward for the assassination of an individual he was having conflicts with, known as T.B [Rondo]. Banks instructed the murder of T.B. and the hitmen utilized funds linked to Banks and OTF to execute the killing.”
Law enforcement further alleged that this shooting was in retaliation for Rondo’s supposed role in the death of King Von, a close associate of Durk, who was fatally shot during a confrontation with Rondo’s group in Atlanta in 2020.
Lul Tim, a member of Rondo’s entourage, was charged with Von’s murder but had these charges dismissed in 2023, with the court ruling he acted in self-defense under Georgia law.
DJ Akademiks Speculates on Lil Durk’s Legal Challenges
DJ Akademiks has closely followed the developments surrounding Lil Durk’s legal troubles since the rapper was detained last week. During a livestream, Akademiks visibly reacted with distress upon learning of Durk’s arrest, pacing his surroundings and collapsing to the floor out of shock.
In a subsequent livestream, Akademiks speculated about additional potential charges that could be brought against Lil Durk. He also referenced authorities investigating other alleged attempts on Quando Rondo’s life, stating:
“There’s a theory I have that when the feds disclose the indictment, they will unveil every effort made on Quando Rondo’s life. It’s rumored there were three or four prior attempts. They could even mention FBG Cash and related events. They might revisit that Atlanta situation where he was co-defendant with Von.”
Akademiks further claimed that authorities detained Durk because they were aware he intended to flee the country. According to WGN-TV, Durk was arrested at a Miami airport after reportedly booking three international flights to escape the United States.
During the livestream, Akademiks suggested that investigators were forming a “grand jury indictment”against Durk, which might encompass racketeering charges and other murder attempts alongside the plot against Rondo.
In related developments, five other OTF associates were apprehended in Chicago in connection with the assassination attempt on Quando Rondo, leading up to Lil Durk’s arrest. The Chicago Tribune reported that these individuals had allegedly been promised “lucrative music opportunities”in exchange for successfully eliminating Rondo.
Additionally, they reportedly utilized OTF’s company credit cards to arrange travel and booking for the alleged assassination plot.
