“Divided Opinions” — The Voice Fans React to Kiara Vega and Mor Ilderton’s Battle Round Performance

The latest episode of The Voice aired on Monday, October 21, 2024. Following an exciting several weeks filled with Blind Auditions, the coaches—Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, and Snoop Dogg—moved into the Battle rounds. In this stage, two contestants from the same team would go head-to-head, performing a song selected by their mentor.

After their performances, the coaches would evaluate the duo, choosing one artist to progress to the next phase while the other would face elimination. Nevertheless, other coaches had the opportunity to swoop in and steal the eliminated contestant, adding them to their teams.

On the opening night of Battles, Kiara Vega and Mor Ilderton—both members of Team Michael—squared off, performing “Iris”by the Goo Goo Dolls. Though Mor delivered a solid effort, he couldn’t quite match Kiara’s performance, leading to his exit from Michael’s team. However, before he could leave the stage, Gwen quickly activated her Steal button to recruit him for her own team.

Fans of The Voice took to X to voice their opinions about the duet between Kiara and Mor. Some viewers appreciated their vocal abilities, while others criticized them, claiming the song choice did not suit their styles. Additionally, many had thoughts on Gwen’s decision to rescue Mor from elimination.

“Sorry, Michael. That duet of Iris was absolutely awful,”one viewer posted.

“Kiara and Mor are amazing,”added another fan.

“Awesome! I love a last-minute steal!”a user tweeted.

However, many viewers were not pleased with how Mor and Kiara’s performance turned out, pointing out a lack of chemistry during their duet.

“These two singers butchered Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls on #TheVoice,”commented one viewer.

“Butchered Iris. Absolutely horrible and disgraceful,”another user stated.

“They weren’t singing together; they were just singing at each other. It felt like they weren’t even considering the other person,”wrote yet another fan.

Conversely, several fans praised the duo’s performance, expressing their delight in Gwen’s timely steal that secured Mor’s place.

“Wow, Kiara Vega and Mor Ilderton delivered an extraordinary performance. They sounded fantastic together, making it one of the highlights of the night!”wrote a user.

“Kiara Vega vs Mor Ilderton (shaking off the nerves). His stylized voice paired with her clean, sonorous tones was captivating, even if it felt a bit sluggish,”commented another viewer.

“I would have been devastated if Mor wasn’t stolen!”a netizen remarked.

What Did the Coaches Think of Kiara and Mor’s Duet on The Voice?

In their battle, 18-year-old Kiara and 20-year-old Mor took on the Goo Goo Dolls’ classic “Iris,”selected by Michael not only for the song’s beauty but also because he felt their age and styles would complement each other.

Their heartfelt performance moved Reba to shed tears, leaving her momentarily speechless. Snoop Dogg was enthusiastic in his evaluation, stating:

“That was an exceptional performance. The way you two harmonized made it sound like you were in love.”

Snoop specifically praised Kiara’s vocal prowess through high and low ranges, while he admired Mor’s unique tone, saying, “You don’t sound like anyone else; you truly have your own sound.”

Reba eventually expressed her admiration as well, highlighting Kiara’s strong stage presence and commenting on Mor’s distinct “raspy voice.”

“Mor, you are so one-of-a-kind. I love your raspy tone, and the way you engaged with the audience is remarkable,”she noted.

Gwen echoed Reba’s sentiments, praising Kiara’s remarkable stage skills and applauding Mor’s assertive presence, calling his unique style impressive.

Despite Reba and Gwen’s accolades for Mor, Michael ultimately declared Kiara the Battle winner, touting her “incredible voice”with the potential to make it in the music industry. Yet, before Mor could exit the stage, Gwen quickly hit her Steal button.

“I just had to steal Mor… I got this feeling that I could do something wonderful with him. I love Mor’s voice; it has a special, raspy quality that resonates with what’s trending in music today,”Gwen explained.
