Upcoming Upgrade for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
At the end of May 2025, Level-5 announced an exciting upgrade for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, specifically for the anticipated Switch 2. This upgrade promises enhanced graphics and improved performance, but the company has gone further by releasing detailed video comparisons showcasing the differences between the existing Switch version and the upcoming Switch 2 version.
Visual Improvements Demonstrated
Level-5 has created split-screen videos available on YouTube that clearly illustrate the visual enhancements in gameplay. These videos aim to provide a quick overview of the improvements you can expect on the new hardware. One of the videos, titled Graphics Showcase, lasts just 15 seconds but effectively highlights the clarity of the environment’s textures and the finer details of characters’ facial features and clothing while using the Woodcutter role to tackle one of the game’s bosses.
Significant Reductions in Load Times
The second video focuses on load times, which provides a more in-depth comparison of how quickly the game transitions between various elements. Lasting around 40 seconds, this video showcases the significant difference in loading speeds when starting the game and traveling between key locations. For instance, the Switch 2 version takes only 6.19 seconds to load from the main menu, while the original Switch requires 12.12 seconds. Similarly, teleporting to the location of Ginormosia is almost twice as quick on the Switch 2, clocking in at 9.39 seconds compared to the Switch’s 17.06 seconds.
Availability and Release Date
Currently, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is playable on multiple platforms, including the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Gamers excited for the enhanced version on the Switch 2 can mark their calendars for the release of the upgrade update file on June 5, 2025.
