With a few weeks into its release, Microsoft has outlined several notable enhancements made during November 2025.

Introducing the GitHub Cloud Agent in Preview

One of the standout features is the introduction of the GitHub Cloud Agent, which is currently in preview mode. This AI-driven workflow assistant can efficiently manage delegated tasks within Visual Studio 2026, such as:

  • User interface clean-ups
  • Documentation updates
  • Multi-file modifications

In the upcoming weeks, Microsoft aims to enhance this feature further by allowing developers to view pull request (PR) links directly within the IDE. This functionality parallels the experience found in web searches, where better results are suggested in case of typos, emphasizing the user’s intent over strict keyword matching.

Looking Ahead: Monthly Updates and Holiday Break

Moving forward, Microsoft intends to provide regular monthly updates for Visual Studio 2026, similar to those already established for Excel and Teams. However, the December update will be postponed in light of the upcoming holiday season, with plans to resume in January 2026.
