Discover the Functionality of Days Gone Remaster’s New Horde Assault Mode on PS5 and PC

Sony Unveils the Days Gone Remastered Edition

Earlier this year, Sony made an exciting announcement regarding a remaster of its popular PlayStation 4 title, Days Gone. Developed through a collaborative effort between Bend Studios and Climax Studios, this remastered version promises enhanced graphics alongside thrilling new content.

Introducing Horde Assault: A New Survival Arcade Mode

One of the most notable additions to the remaster is the Horde Assault mode. This survival-focused arcade experience departs from the narrative-driven style of the original game. Instead, players will face waves of hostile enemies, with hordes consisting of up to 800 Freakers—a significant increase compared to the campaign.

Gameplay Mechanics and Features

In Horde Assault, players will commence their journey armed only with a sidearm. However, after successfully surviving the initial wave of enemies, they gain access to their motorcycle, which allows for increased mobility and strategy. During the battles, players can discover weapon pickups, including powerful new items like the flamethrower, and utilize supply boxes to aid their survival.

This mode encourages players to complete mini-objectives while managing the relentless waves of zombies. The challenge is designed to keep players engaged and on their toes.

New Rewards and Character Options

Part of the appeal of Horde Assault is its reward system. Players can unlock new characters beyond the main character, Deacon. They can take control of familiar faces such as O’Brian, Lisa, and Skizzo. Additionally, new patch cosmetics and exclusive Injectors designed to enhance gameplay are up for grabs. Notably, these Injectors differ from those found in the standard campaign, offering both advantages and disadvantages to players, influencing their strategy and scoring during gameplay.

“Horde Assault is treated as end-game content, though it is playable as soon as you boot up Days Gone Remastered, ”explains Kevin McAllister, creative and product lead at Bend Studios.“We encourage newcomers to get a handle on the combat and mechanics first by visiting the story, but nothing is stopping you from jumping right into the action to encounter the uniqueness of Days Gone, and the hordes.”

Additional Content and Pricing Information

Bend Studios indicated that the Horde Assault mode alone will provide an additional 10 hours of gameplay, enriching the overall experience compared to the original release. The Days Gone Remastered edition is set to launch on April 25, priced at $49.99 for PlayStation 5. Additionally, fans of the original game on PlayStation 4 can upgrade to this enhanced version for just $10.

For PC gamers, the new content will also be accessible on that same date as a DLC pack titled Broken Road, available for $10 on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
