Exciting Updates Coming to Sea of Thieves in Season 16

Rare is on the verge of launching an exciting new content update for its acclaimed pirate adventure game, Sea of Thieves. Titled Season 16: Reapers Rule, this expansion will introduce a host of innovative features that promise to enhance gameplay and player experience.

Unveiling the Cannon of Rage

One of the standout additions in Season 16 is the Cannon of Rage, a revolutionary portable weapon players can unearth on islands. Once excavated, this cannon can be transported akin to a loot chest and deployed either on land or aboard ships. From initial impressions, players will have the ability to fire various types of cannonballs, including both standard and specialized rounds, adding a dynamic tactical element to battles.

Risks Involved with Portability

However, this innovative cannon does come with drawbacks. Continuous use—whether firing cannonballs or sustaining damage—will cause the Cannon of Rage to overheat. If players fail to cool it down using water, the cannon will explode, incinerating everything nearby and rendering the device unusable.

Introducing Mercenary Skeletons

In addition to the cannon, players can also discover Mercenary Skeletons buried on islands. These helpful allies will aid crews by locating buried treasure, transporting loot, and even assisting in combat situations. Remarkably, these skeletons can be revived after falling in battle, allowing them to continue supporting their crew.

New Adventures Await

Furthermore, the new season will feature two fresh Reaper’s Bones voyages focused on unraveling ancient secrets and discovering methods to unlock Reaper’s Chests, which can trigger skeleton spawner events for your crew. As part of this seasonal revamp, Rare will also roll out new free and paid battle passes, expanded cosmetic choices, and additional customization options for skeleton curses.

Mark your calendars for May 22, when Sea of Thieves Season 16: Reapers Rule will officially launch across various platforms including PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, as well as on Game Pass. Players can expect a comprehensive changelog that will detail all updates upon the release of the new season.
